Video; un: cehdra
[ It's rather late at night when the video first goes out. It begins with Cehd'ra's face on the screen, the background a window looking out into the neon lights of Level Three. Cehd'ra's face is brightly lit by the screen's glow. ]
Ah, 'lo there. So...y'know 'don't think I've done this before. Huh.
[ Cehd'ra's accent places him as Eorzean to those who'd recognize it, but on a whole his speech is almost impressively lazy. ]
Cehd'ra. [ He gives a brief wave with one hand and a wry smile. ] 'Pleased to meet you all. Just wanted t'ask folk who might know...ah, let's start with this: any of you ever been Bonded? Whether where y'come from or here, that bit doesn't matter. 'Just fishing for some idea of how it's done.
[ He leans back, ears cocking in different directions as he reaches to scratch at the base of one. ]
'Know that there's often a ceremony, fancy clothes, that sort'f thing but...what else? I'd be grateful for any input, I know some folk find these odd questions t'be a bother.
[ With a shrug he gives the camera another little wave. ]
Fare well!

...although he will pause the chopping while he speaks, mostly because he's self-aware enough to realize he will lose a finger. ]
By a most generous definition of the term.
[ He gestures to the maimed veggies with a sort of noncommittal air, then lays down the knife. For now. ]
My well-wishes on your betrothal.
My own was a rather intimate affair, but most parties opt for a celebration of some sort. Music, drink, food-- that sort of thing.
Ah, and wedding gifts, of course.
no subject
Thank you, Cardan.
[ 'On your betrothal', he said. The fancifulness of it all is enough to make Cehd'ra a little giddy. But then: ]
Gifts? For one another or the guests or...?
no subject
[ He smiles, spreads his hands. ]
The gift of attending your celebration should be enough of a boon for your guests, should it not?
no subject
'Didn't know about gifts...
[ And if it isn't obvious by now he very much likes the idea. ]
...aye! It'll have to be a grand party if there're to be gifts. S'only fair!
no subject
I hope I may see it when the time comes.
[ Which is indeed a very breezy way of inviting himself to someone else's wedding, yes. But he's not going to press the point. Instead: ]
Who is your lucky betrothed?
no subject
[ And that is Cehd'ra's equally laid back way of confirming the invitation. ]
Though, actually, s'two. [ The thought of them as his betrothed gets him giddy all over again. ] 'Don't know if you've met them. Estinien and Dakki?
no subject
But all of his surprise is abruptly superseded by one of the names Cehd'ra gives him. ]
--Estinien?!
[ ...it's possible that this is the most shocked he's been during his stay in Lunatia, and that's saying something. ]
no subject
But what Cardan says...it's not the nature of the relationship that's a shock, apparently. ]
...y'know of him, I take it?
[ That's the second time he's gotten that sort of reaction regarding Estinien... ]
no subject
...forgive me. Yes. We are-- [ there is a tiny pause as Cardan considers; in the end, though, he cannot lie: ] I consider him a friend.
He had not mentioned anything like this, so I was-- surprised. [ There is something thoughtful in the way he glances at Cehd'ra, now.
Another half-second, and something like amusement replaces the considering look. ]
He did mention his very attractive roommates. I suppose I understand now why he was so smitten.
no subject
A friend, is it? Good! Good...he needs friends. A shame it doesn't change how little he likes t'tell folk things, though.
[ No matter how close he is to them. Cehd'ra can only offer an apologetic shrug before melting into a more deeply pleased blush. Out of view of the camera his tail gives a happy flick. ]
'Smitten', was he? 'Suppose knowing what I do now, it's confirmed: th'man has fine tastes.
[ His eyebrows and ears both give Cardan a flirty wiggle. ]
no subject
And cute.
He tries to imagine this cheerful man plopped up against Estinien's perpetually-stoic self. It's an unaccountably charming thought.
...you have stolen the words from my tongue.
I do have a request, if I may.
no subject
Name it.
no subject
There is a gift I would like to deliver.
[ Translation: he would like to ambush Estinien with questions about what he's wearing to his wedding that he didn't tell Cardan about, because Cardan's suspicion is that the answer will be "clothes" or something similarly unforgivable.
...also, actual gifts to the soon-to-be betrothed, because he is no liar. ]
no subject
[ Cehd'ra has learned enough about the network to understand what's safe to do and what is not, so he sends Cardan a separate, private text with their address on Level 3.
Surely no fair folk hijinks will come of this! ]
