[Lunatia's resident centaur lady is back on screen, excitedly trying to... set her network device up somewhere where it can actually get all of a rather large frame into the shot. Not that she waits to start talking.]


Greetings, everyone! I didn't realize it's been months since I last used this for "posting"... There's probably so many new people, so, um, very quickly- If you don't know me, my name is Konoha! I'm a jinba... Or a "centaur" if you want! And oh, that's my husband, Gonta... and our friend, Mikuni! Say hello, you two!

[Catching sight of the other jinba behind her pausing in their field work, she moves the camera to show a large palomino fellow (Gonta) who gives a gruff nod and semi-wave, and an elegant ebony-coated gentleman? (Mikuni) who dips into a more proper bow with a little smile.]

We run the Tsurugi Farmstead in the Greatmoon Groves! There was a lot of damage when it flooded before, but thanks to everyone's efforts we're back up and running properly... and we've had our first fall harvest!

So... as a bit of a thank you, and also maybe to celebrate not dealing with those awful nightmares anymore, I thought we could have a hotpot party here by the river? In my village we usually make imoni in the autumn, it's so delicious! It's full of beef and taro root and leeks and konnyaku... Mmm!

[She finally gets the device set up properly and trots back into frame properly, obviously excited by the invitation she's making.]


Cordis is almost over, right? So now seems like a good time before Iris shows up... But if you have a Cordis appetite, don't worry! We'll supply all the imoni... or, the ingredients, anyway, it's more fun if you cook it outside with everyone. We also have fresh sweet potatoes, pumpkin, new rice... oh, and persimmons!

But if you want to share anything, feel free to bring your own dish, too! Let's say... tomorrow? I'll send directions for anyone who hasn't visited before, alright?

Eel is really good in the summer... ! Oh, that's right, you said you came from cow folk! I'll warn you we don't use the good cuts for imoni, but... Overall the dish is really good!

My family raised cattle when I was growin' up, yeah. And don't worry, I believe ya. I'll try anythin' once, anyway.

[She used to let herself believe they might just be hiding, but. It's probably better to accept that they didn't really exist in anyone else's Japan... As weirdly lonely as that was.]

But you don't raise them anymore? Most of the Moonblessed here have really dramatic lives back home, I think, so... did you leave the farm for the big city I guess?

Not exactly. I'm an engineer now, and I moved off the family farm. I still visit and help where I can, though.

I didn't leave for the big city or nothin'... but I DID get some folks to buy my inventions. I reckon that's dramatic enough.

Can you tell me more of what an engineer does? I think I can guess if it's my own world, but... Something tells me that's definitely not what you're doing.

Mm... essentially, an engineer is somebody who design, builds, or keeps up engines, machines, or public works. "Public works" bein' things like roads 'n such.

There's different kinds of engineers for different specialties. I'm a mechanical engineer, by trade. I design and build things. Mainly machines. I helped with a few of the ones my family uses on our ranch, too.

"Engineers" make roads? ... I guess I never wondered what people who made roads were called. Do they make the roads in my world? I thought those mostly just happened...

[ANYWAY]

So you make farming machines? Some of my Prismal neighbors have some pretty fancy ones that do all sorts of watering and harvesting and threshing for you.

Some do. They're called civil engineers. Different from mechanical engineerin', though.

My main specialty is... weapons. [He's hesitant to mention that with certain people. Not out of shame or anything - mainly that he's not sure how said certain people will react.] But I've done a lot of other things. Agricultural machinery included. My mother had an old harvester that I fixed up for her.

[She repeats it as if to commit it to memory, but- Oh. Weapons.]

Weapons like... rifles? Or something?

Not exactly. [Yes exactly, Dell. You make giant fuckoff mounted machine guns.] Defensive tools, in a nutshell.

But he's not technically lying. He DID work in a defensive position back in the war at home.]

[Coming from a world where the most advanced weapons technology are matchlock rifles and the most advanced defensive tools are... what, shields?]

Defensive tools like... armor?

[Is that a "defensive tool"???]

Sorta.

[He's made this similar to armor, anyway. He chuckles.]

But my Dispensers too. They're these... big boxes, sorta. They give ya medical aid and ammo, if y'need.

[Konoha knows this is probably because she's from a much more medieval world than most people in Lunatia, but. Is... Is she hearing him right?]

... You made boxes... to put stuff in?

In... a way? It puts out an automatic healin' vapour. Things like that.

[lumberlady]

[Okay, phew. "Automatic healing vapors" sounds way nicer and smarter than the stuff she was imagining went in boxes.]

Oh, that sounds way fancier than what I was thinking- and useful! You just breathe it and it heals you?

Essentially. The vapor part's an invention of a friend of mine. I just incorporated it into an automatic dispenser.

Wow, future worlds do things that I don't think people in my world even dreamed about... Everyone's going to think I've gone crazy if I tell them about it...
