Are they troublesome to maintain?

I am not worried about pain, I have a strong tolerance
But I have read that they accentuate certain sensations
I think my partner would enjoy them if I had some, but how do they feel for the wearer?

Very uncommon but it's happened. Mostly your tongue is tender. I wouldn't be concerned unless you're talkative.
