[He should try to post this as anon, but he doesn't know how, and really, he just wants answers at this point.]
How do you know you love someone?
I have done a lot of research, and every answer I seem to find points me to a different place.

chemically and medically, love is the product of neurotransmitter activity in the brain. this activity produces effects in your body, like warmth, belonging, and happiness. the nervousness you might experience when you’re in love, like “butterflies in your stomach” is a result of stimulation of the vagus nerve, or cranial nerve x.
all of that explains how and why, but not what to do. knowing is more of just how you feel. do you think you might be in love with someone, or do you want to be?
[ because why else would someone ask this question, really. ]

I have never experienced 'butterflies in my stomach', but everything else seems to be the case for me.
I think I might be in love with my best friend.

your best friend? that’s a good start, you’re already close. what is it that you love about this person?
[ talking it out might help work through the emotions. ]

His smile, his laugh, his pouts, everything he makes for me and does for me, his wings are really cute too.

Or you could say exactly what you said here- “how do you know you’re in love?”

I shall try the first option.
