[He should try to post this as anon, but he doesn't know how, and really, he just wants answers at this point.]
How do you know you love someone?
I have done a lot of research, and every answer I seem to find points me to a different place.

It’s something I’ve struggled with myself for a long time. What does it mean to love someone? What are the signs? I think people tend to approach it from the perspective of a doctor trying to diagnose it within themselves, but the reality is love is much more complicated than that.
And yet, quite simple, too. Love is warmth.
no subject
Warmth you say. What kind of warmth are you speaking of?
no subject
As for warmth, I suppose I would best describe it as the warmth of springtime, within your very soul.

Like, you can't imagine your life without them.

But that is a feeling I have had since their creation, would that mean I have loved them for a long time?
no subject
You, uh, loved them since they were a baby?
I mean that does sound like a long time but I don't think I follow...

chemically and medically, love is the product of neurotransmitter activity in the brain. this activity produces effects in your body, like warmth, belonging, and happiness. the nervousness you might experience when you’re in love, like “butterflies in your stomach” is a result of stimulation of the vagus nerve, or cranial nerve x.
all of that explains how and why, but not what to do. knowing is more of just how you feel. do you think you might be in love with someone, or do you want to be?
[ because why else would someone ask this question, really. ]
no subject
I have never experienced 'butterflies in my stomach', but everything else seems to be the case for me.
I think I might be in love with my best friend.
no subject
your best friend? that’s a good start, you’re already close. what is it that you love about this person?
[ talking it out might help work through the emotions. ]

I asked myself a few questions.
1. Do I want to spend the rest of my life with this person?
2. Would I willingly sacrifice everything for this person?
3. Am I always happy and secure whenever I am with them?
But in the end, to love someone is also a decision. It isn't just about feelings. It is about willing to make the decision to wholly accept them for who they are.

So to love someone I have to decide to do so?

LOVE IS THE BEST! it's not always easy to realize when you're in love, but once you do, it makes it hard to focus on anything else!
when you love someone, your heart flutters when they set their eyes upon you! when you love someone, hearing their voice is like a golden panacea that cures any negativity in your soul! when you love someone, just a mere brush of fingertips is electrifying in such a way that every fibre of your being can't help but become magnetized to your lover!
it's truly the best feeling in the world!!
[ ... none of that was particularly helpful, though. ]

Hard to focus on anything but your loved one? I think I understand.
If it's the best feeling in the world, why is it so hard to understand?
un, angel
But I wake up and he's the first in my thoughts, and the decisions I make tend to consider his preferences, too. And when I'm with him, I'm just so excited and so happy. Even with whatever problems I end up facing, the feeling is different because there's someone I know who'll be there for me, and someone I can turn to. I feel a lot lighter with them around.
I think it would be different for each person, so doing research may not be of much help. I think it's something you have to ask yourself about.

Your response is specific, but it reflects my feelings somewhat. So thank you for your input.

I am not sure he is the most important thing in the world to me though, as the world is vast.
