[ventus has the camera propped up against something on the counter as he mixes together what looks like the dry ingredients for cookies. there's some flour stuck to his cheek and chiirthy perched atop his head and precariously leaning forward to peer into the mixing bowl. it raises a paw, as if about to say something when it just

tumbles

into the dry mix, sending flour and whatnot up into the air like a giant white cloud. it hits ventus right in the face and the camera's edges are touched with flour. chirithy pops up out of the bowl and laughs a little sheepishly.

ventus just sighs.]

I think... I messed up somewhere along the way.

[ven looks down to chirithy and quickly wipes away an errant tear with his free hand, blinking back the rest.]

[ Why is Ventus crying? What's he apologizing for? ]

[ He pulls his wrist free of Ven's grip. In the next second it's Vanitas that's pushing his thumbs up against Ven's cheeks. Wiping away the water. ]

If you're going to cry, I'll give you a reason to cry, idiot.

[ Like pinching his cheeks! ]

[because he's sad that all of this has happened? that they were separated to begin with and that vanitas is suffering because of it? that ventus doesn't have a good answer or solution on how to help him - yet?

he's still sniffing when vanitas pulls his hand away, expecting something like that to happen. what he doesn't expect is for van to wipe away his tears or-]

Ow! [he swats away van's hand when he pinches his cheeks, frowning at him.] I wasn't crying!

Ah huh... That's why my fingers are wet.

[ Van gonna lick it. ]

[ Like that's something big. World shaking. Or maybe it's because crying is a vague memory for Vanitas. One that he's tried to repress. ]

Oh... yeah, tears are like that.

[he runs his thumb over his other cheek and wrinkles his nose.

then he bends down to pick up chirithy again who paps at his face too with a little paw.]

Sorry, Chirithy.

Your tears maybe...

[ Speaking of the Spirit it's been weirdly silent. Now Vanitas just feels awkward standing there. ]

All tears are salty, Vanitas.

[don't make him even weirder, van.

chirithy has been quiet because it's important these two talk. they turn to look back to vanitas before holding their paws out for him.

[ Awkwardly take Chirithy. Then look like he isn't sure what he's supposed to do with it.

The key to getting Vanitas to do anything right now is to not let him actually take too long to think about it. ]

[while vanitas might look awkward, chirithy seems pretty content in his arms.

ventus feels very tired all of a sudden now, but instead of letting it show he turns away to go pick up the mess vanitas made of the toaster oven.

he picks it up, turning it over as he examines the very large dent in its side. it's definitely broken.]

I'm surprised you didn't shatter this.

[ Don't walk away and leave him alone with it! That's just bad. ]

ven starts to set the broken toaster aside to throw out later when he stops and then looks at vanitas again.]

... Wanna go outside and really destroy it?

[ THAT sure gets his attention. Maybe a squeeze for Chirithy. ]

Well... yeah? It's already broken so we might as well have fun with it.

[he smiles a little at him.] We can go to the alley behind the apartment building.

[darkcharge]

[ Shush. It's not enough to hurt anyone or anything. For now. ]

[he shakes the broken toaster a little and something inside it rattles.]

I'm not a complete wet blanket, you know. [he grins at him] So is that a yes?

[ A brief pause. ]

But it's a yes.

[huffs!!!]

Good. Let's go then. [might as well leave on a good note to go trash an appliance they'll probably need come tomorrow morning.]

[darkcharge]

You really, really are. You don't have a destructive bone in your body. Because I took it all.

[ But lead the way, Ventus. Vanitas is going to follow. ]

I have at least one... maybe even two left.

[toaster tucked under one arm he leads the way down the apartment building stairs that lead outside to the alleyway. it's just some empty garbage cans and the faint sounds of the city that greet them once ventus opens the door.]

Oh good. No one else is out here.

[he holds out the toaster, looking at vanitas.] Do you wanna go first?

[darkcharge]

[ Vanitas snorts but makes no further comment. Instead he walks after Ventus, little Spirit still in his arms. Why this is, he doesn't know. Right now he's trying not too think too much on these things. Between Sora. Ventus. Even that weird Xigbar...

There are a lot of conflicting thoughts. So he just stares at the back of his other half's head. ]

Huh?

[ Oops. Distracted. ]

[ven shakes the toaster again lightly. it's weird seeing vanitas as quiet as this.]

Do you wanna kick it or punch it?

[darkcharge]

Why do that when we can just take our Keyblades to it?

[callmeven]

Because our keyblades would just obliterate it in like... one hit?

[but whatever, if that's what vanitas wants to do ventus won't stop him (this time).]
