Saw talk about us getting sent back to where we came from.

[...Not that she doesn't understand why, 'cause, well... hey. Everyone's life got kind of interrupted by being pulled here, right? Plenty of folks probably left a shitload behind. But... pff, well. This is more just. Biting the bullet and getting her own thoughts out 'cause she can.]

I got reminded of where I came from by what happened with the plants. What it reminded me of got a lot worse, though. I don't know how much of a universal constant this is, but I was 3 or 4 when the Raccoon City incident happened on Earth. Plus I've been trying to move on from some things a long time.

I wonder how alone I am saying I wouldn't shed a tear if I couldn't go back.

You know saying "Raccoon City incident" doesn't tell us anything, right? Hard to have a frame of reference to have a "proper" reaction if there's no recount of it provided to us.

I guess I'm still getting used to most of us coming from different universes, or times.
The Raccoon City incident is something that happened in my world that almost everyone knows about.

[HEY, WE'VE... we've all met people like that before, alas. (Probably.)]

I wasn't there for it, but it was the first one in a string of terrorist events that have been hitting almost all over the world. One of them hit my hometown a few years ago.
It might be fine getting sent back to the world I came from as long as it wasn't back there. [...That hometown of hers, she means.] But I haven't been taken away from anything I would miss.
If anything, being here just puts a lot of distance between me and hard memories.

If you didn't like it there then why not just pack up and leave?
Surely there's more than one location to live.
So even in being sent back you could just find somewhere else to go.

Trust me, I would have if it was that easy.
The tricky part about that is that I would have been killed if I just walked off. I was being tracked.

Pretty much just that: to make sure I didn't go anywhere.
Plenty of other people who came too close where I was living tried to leave, too. Not a one of them survived.
