Saw talk about us getting sent back to where we came from.

[...Not that she doesn't understand why, 'cause, well... hey. Everyone's life got kind of interrupted by being pulled here, right? Plenty of folks probably left a shitload behind. But... pff, well. This is more just. Biting the bullet and getting her own thoughts out 'cause she can.]

I got reminded of where I came from by what happened with the plants. What it reminded me of got a lot worse, though. I don't know how much of a universal constant this is, but I was 3 or 4 when the Raccoon City incident happened on Earth. Plus I've been trying to move on from some things a long time.

I wonder how alone I am saying I wouldn't shed a tear if I couldn't go back.

its all i had for a loooooong time because i can't really remember my old old home world but this place is definitely a huge upgrade in terms of everything.

it's kind of a bummer that i don't have all of my stuff from my world, but i've got the one thing that matters most to me here so i can replace the old stuff!

Do you really care about what a bunch of strangers think or do you just want validation for not caring about going home?

I'd say I don't know how they could force us all to go anyway, but people can do strange things when they think they know what they want.
One minute you think everything's fine, then the next people are coming after you to give you a "blessing" you don't want.

I don't know how involved they were in all of it, but while I was growing up, bioterrorism incidents have been happening all over the world.
Looks like even my town wasn't safe from all the mess. I grew up in the Louisiana country.

I know they have a research facility in Paris but... that's about as far as my knowledge extends. Raccoon City was the first incident I guess.

I'm sorry, for what it's worth. I guess it was stupid to hope that it'd be contained to Raccoon.

I don't know how I didn't really think about that sooner, how getting here at all with other people from different worlds means there are more places to go than I ever thought.

I guess it helps that the plants came and went. I don't wanna speak too soon, but with the way it got handled, it's like it was more like a natural disaster than anything else. There are worse things than living somewhere where it rains a lot.

[I mean... you did live almost as far as it gets southeast in stateside terms, so. Yeah. You know about rain.]

She - internally "hmmn...?"s a little to herself off that...! A light "balk" crossing her face, on her end of the line...! Like...

...it's always sort of just "been a thing" in her consciousness; yeah, she may have made that disclaimer, but... the idea of someone not knowing it is kind of the inverse of watching or reading a sci-fi story that takes place in a whole "different earth timeline", and accepting it when the characters make reference to a major disaster, or an infamous war...!

...Yeah, the whole... extent to which this whole "different worlds" things runs is going to need some time to sink in with her - especially after... having seen mention of Raccoon City already just kind of... set her up to assume that that kind of "alternate reality" logic applies.

That said, though!

Her - eyes flick down and brow tenses a hint as she... switches on over to audio...! Just taken off-guard outta triggering of curiosity enough for her words 'n throat to be... kinda-stuck for just a split second...?

From what I've heard, it's not much of a universal constant, but if you've gone through an incident like that I don't really blame you not wanting to go back.

Yeah. I mean, I honestly think I'd take any sort of natural disaster or non-sentient oddity over dealing with some of the people in my life back home. But that one might really just be me.

Well, the concept does take a while to get used to. It's not really all that surprising that you haven't thought about that before now.

Someone just... saying "this is way better than where I came from!" and talking about things having been empty and lonely in a way that's just, like... the way a peppier person around her age might talk about how they liked their college more than they were expecting to...! Don't get me wrong, I wasn't there, but a weapons company made a disease that got out and turned most of the city into zombies.
I don't know if it was the first time something like that happened where I came from in that kind of way, but it wasn't the last.

Didn't really think that hard about why, but it's probably the first. I haven't gotten a lot of chance to talk to strangers at all for a while.
It's not like what they think about it is gonna change what I think, but maybe I'm just curious about how others feel.

Do you have a goal or family there?
Or both?

I don't think anyone is gonna twist your arm and force you to go back, if we can find a way.

I will say everything about this world is... odd.
