All the basics and even the more advanced abilities... we fought one another. Not to the death, of course. [ Gon isn't yet at that point~ But one day~ ] He was able to use his abilities to kick up a stone slab and kick it square in the middle... shattering it into enough pieces to hide himself behind.
He used that to get the drop on me... in order to get closer to someone who has higher skills than him. He figured out how to use even the terrain to his advantage. It's a good memory for me, because it shows how much that person has grown. It means that he'll just continue to improve his abilities.
Do you cultivators do the same? Battle one another to show off your skills?

But none of the elemental masters are martial artists, and between the Rain and Earth Masters, who keep to themselves, and himself, who is decidedly against violence, who would even challenge them to a fight? Then when it comes to the Water Master, no-one would dare fight him regardless...

But I understand what you mean. This wasn't exactly the memory of a show, but of testing his abilities. [ For this young man's safety! (because why would anyone assume he was fighting a literal child) ] The way you talk about him, you sound almost like you're his shixiong... I'm sure he'll improve in time if he keeps training seriously. He sounds very clever and serious already, and that's something that can't be easily taught.

[ His chin bobs down in a quick nod. It is a warm memory for him, because he is able to test Gon's abilities. He has grown so much in such a short time. That makes him a rare, rare case. It means in a few years that they'll really be able to try to kill one another. ]
Mmm, mmm. He does take all of it quite seriously. I'm quite impressed with all that he's been learning and doing.

But ... that process was put to a halt. There was a time recently when he almost died. I honestly believed we may lose him. [ And he would never see the fruit ripen. That would have been heartbreaking. The person that Gon was becoming -- the strength that he was accumulating -- it would be enough to lose three toys over to ensure he'd continue living. ]
I'm really, really grateful we didn't.

Well, there was one time recently where some people thought I was having a relationship with someone? They announced it in front of everyone! All of my colleagues! It was incredibly embarrassing for both of us, haha... Rumors like that can ruin someone's image, you know.
