Text (shortly after the August Iris moon phase ends)

Hello, fellow Moonblessed! This is the Principality Aziraphale and I have a few subjects I'd like to discuss with you, if you have the time to spare.

One is simply a request for good book recommendations, though I'm also curious if anyone has ever run into books here they were familiar with back home?

The other is particularly for those also blessed by the Iris moon... Have you had any trouble with shocking things? And people? My last phase resulted in my being quite affectionate but it's a bit of a hardship trying to cuddle when you keep accidentally shocking your partner.

[There is a possibility of Crowley threadjacking, forewarning.]

I haven't found any books I recognize from home here, although I do plan to bring some with the dimensional orbs. It's slow going at a limit of two purchases per month.

As for the books here:

[This is five entire paragraphs of book recommendations from what Atsushi's read in the library, covering a wide array of genre, tone, and intended audience. He includes brief summaries as well as what he personally enjoyed most about the books.

Atsushi reads a lot. It's an author thing.]

I'm Iris as well, but I don't think I shocked anyone. I just had big ears and... um... well, affectionate is a good word for it. What kind of shocks was it? Like rubbing your feet on carpet, or sticking your finger inn a socket shock?
whateternityis: then you can blame us for it (tell us what we did wrong)

As the shocked party in question, definitely more the former.

How electrifying.
I'm sorry, that was bad. But, that had to be annoying. Is it a Iris trait? I'm thankfully missing that one myself.

At least so far...

I’m frequently at the library for research. Anything I can recommend you might not understand or it would be boring. If you’re wanting recommendations, maybe you could start a book club. You know, and serve free coffee to participants.

As for your shocking issue, good luck. Wouldn’t want to shock someone too much, would you?

[ Five, don’t be mean. ]

Not nearly as bad as he's worried it is, but I figured he's probably not the only one having the problem.

That seems to be something I should keep an eye out for. In my experience I was more just, uh, well, again, affectionate is a word that works for it, I suppose.

I ended up with big rabbit ears and a tail though. Bioluminescence sounds pretty neat though I'm not too sure of the tentacles.

It's a good idea to check like this. I'm curious now what other Iris people have experienced.
Or really, what everyone in general experiences. Transformation here seems to be vast and different for everyone.

You're welcome. The local library is practically a second home to me.

They can! Items you own yourself are certainly possible to acquire. Now I'm wishing that I had gotten my friends to sign their books...

Unnecessarily personal, is what it was. [And that's all the more Crowley's going to say on the subject.]

Apparently it can vary from month to month.

[Zenyatta's voice is a calm, silky and unashamedly synthetic baritone as he speaks, completely bypassing the option to write in favour of a more personal response.]

As I understand it, the Cordis moon grants its followers ice powers. Unfortunately, I have yet to freeze anything at all, much less without intending to, so I am afraid I cannot offer you much guidance. If you will forgive my curiosity, however, may I inquire as to your title? I have never met a "Principality".

I don't, actually. I chose to keep the ability to use electricity outside the moon, since you need to understand magic to weave it into programming and machinery here. I have other issues during that phase, and cuddling isn't one of them...

Maybe keep yourself in contact with some rubber, just in case?

Hello!

I have found tomes similar to those I was familiar with
but they're a bit... customized to this world
As for shocking people, I've heard
some folks like that too?

I'm not sure about the books. Unfortunately most of what I've been grabbing has been about the scientific side of Chroma. Not too stimulating.

As for shocking... I'll have to ask my sister. She tends to avoid the world during Iris, but I wouldn't be surprised if she found out how to be a walking battery.
pokexplorer: (❖ this is lore)

Hello there! I would be happy to make some book recommendations if you are all right with the fact that they may be skewed toward science.

I can also answer your question as a fellow Iris. I too had difficulty keeping my electric ability in check at first, but I've since found that it is helpful to find a place to expel excess buildup. In my case, I am able to feed one of my creature companions with the electricity that I generate.

There are also devices that can dampen abilities, though I find those to only be a temporary solution.
whateternityis: (that was a thing)

[personal profile] whateternityis 2019-08-21 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Would've thought 'stimulating' was exactly what they were after.

... Not that kind of stimulating.

I totally opened myself up for that, didn't I?

When I get super excited I can send out pretty big electric shocks or... bolts I guess. I even made beach glass with it one time. But it's all by accident. I don't have any issue shocking someone, though.

Principality? [That sounds vaguely familiar, why does that sound vaguely familiar.]

I haven't shocked any people so far, but I'm familiar with the magic in question. It's proven very useful for keeping my phone charged. Sufficient focus should allow you to channel it where you want it, which is... presumably not into someone else.
