Hello everyone,

I've found that I've had more time to spend working on the culinary arts, as of late, and this has given me the chance to use many ingredients that are new and unfamiliar to me... or at least oddly named. I'm looking for some advice in regards to the following fruit:

What would you call this? Where I'm from, I've always known it as an alligator pear. I've only ever seen it used for a particular sort of salad... or simply eaten on bread. Is there anything else to be done with it?

Also, since the subject is somewhat related, why would the people here call a rolanberry a strawberry, of all things?

Oh, I see! I haven't really been reading anything like that...

It's good that there's someone here willing to answer those sorts of questions! This certainly isn't that kind of question, though. Even if Cordis does make me ridiculously hungry.

I don't know a whole lot about Cordis, even if my roommate and one of my friends are Cordis. I've seen them eat a lot, yeah. They get all playful and mischievous.

What kind of animal do you become? Cat, bird, fox?

Well, I don't know terribly much about Sanguis or Iris, myself. Perhaps I should have been reading other postings on the network, but they all seemed so personal...

I usually become owl-like. I even grow wings, when the moon's power is strong enough! Though the last time the three moons were out, I went entirely fox-like instead. But I think that's a side effect of something the fox cultists did... I imagine it'll be feathers and talons again, next month.

I don't know if you were here, but a few months back we raised dragon eggs and went to the dragon folk's kingdom. After that, someone who I believe was a wolf originally was a dragon during his phase. It may be influence from outside races that make us different.

As for Sanguis and Iris, my partner was Sanguis, and I have friends who are as well. I'm an Iris, with... you guessed it, Iris friends. I'm also one of the first Moonblessed, so it's a mystery even to me how and why some things happen.

I was here for that. I arrived a bit before, in time for the festival with the tree-planting and the dancing. Someone I know who's usually fish-like was a dragon, the moon phase after returning from the dragon kingdom.

[And that is absolutely all she has to say about that, in public. To someone that she's only just barely begun talking with.]

There's a lot about this world that's very mysterious, but the longer we're here, the more we can learn. Though it's very easy to get distracted from learning. Here I am, asking about fruits rather than anything particularly important!

There's nothing wrong with that. You can't be serious all the time, or your head and heart get exhausted. I do most of my socializing this way, and I've actually met some interesting people through doing it.

I just fuss over the younger folks, is all. The moons do... things to you.

I've met some interesting people already, true enough. Perhaps I should do this more often? I feel fortunate to have been taught my letters and to have had ample chance to practice putting them to use... this is just another way to do that, isn't it? I'll admit to it still feeling somewhat awkward, to communicate in this way.

It's very kind of you to be so concerned. The changes can be difficult, and are harder for some than for others. I'm fine enough with mine, so there's no need to worry about me, though!

It's not for everyone. This is second nature to me, how I spent the majority of my life. It's when people talk to me in person it all falls apart. ┐('～`;)┌

You'll be fine. As long as you have people you can rely on to help you when you need it.

Is it? You're from a world that's something like this one, then? Mine doesn't have technology anywhere near this sort. At least, not without unearthing it from ancient ruins and recreating it somehow.

I've never been all that skilled at talking to others, myself.... but I've at least had a lifetime of practice at it. I manage. If this method of communication has an advantage, it's that I can carefully consider my words, first.

How did you get the symbols to make that little drawing, if I may ask?

It's a type of emoji! Emoji can be little symbols, like ✌️ or 🥂. There's also smiley faces, like :) or :P I use kaomoji, which are bit more complex and cuter. (´｡• ω •｡`) i have a bunch I saved onto my device, but there are some online and via the keyboard application.
