Hey, everybody! Wow, this forum thing is really neat. I wish we'd had something like this back home, it would've made keeping in touch with people a lot easier. It's pretty fun to look through and see all the questions people are asking, and read what everyone has to say! It seems like that's what this is for, right? Asking questions?

Actually, I was hoping I could ask a couple, too. One of them is, for people who have jobs, are your jobs enough to keep you sustained just from the Demichroma you earn, or do you have to accumulate Chroma yourself on the side, too? I don't just mean for splurging at the mall or something — I mean more of, with the moon cycles and all. It feels pretty weird to have to just ask people outright if they'll hold your hand to get some extra Chroma, but I guess around here people don't think that's as bold a thing to do as they would back home.

Anyway, I was a little worried about it, so I thought getting a job would be a good thing to do, but boy! The customers sure are something when there's a moon in the sky!

The other question I had was, I sort of want to go back to school, so I've been thinking of enrolling at the Academy. I'm just wondering if it's hard to balance classes and a job? It's sort of strange to get used to having to sleep again! But I really want to see if there are some opportunities to play music, or maybe do some acting, or dance. I used to know some girls who did ballet and I was always really jealous of how easy they made it look! I wonder if it's too late to learn...

School's always a good idea. Back home I had a job through college, and it worked out pretty okay. It ain't always easy (being honest, I tore my hair out some days), but it's possible. Worth it in the end either way.

Yeah! I liked school a lot, when I was still going. I know I've missed out on a lot, though. Do you think the teachers at the Academy would take that into consideration? I'm probably pretty far behind, but I guess I'll never catch up if I don't start somewhere, either!

Sorry that I don't have any answers on Demichroma. But for school and work - it's definitely possible! Even with plenty of sleep and some time to do things you like like dance or music.

I'm personally looking into a couple of those things myself.

Yup! Things worked out after all. Now I just have to do my best and try not to drop too many plates!

And I never said I wasn't going to try. But I think learning ballet is kind of like learning a language, if you don't start it when you're young it gets a lot harder to pick it up later.

I have a job to keep myself occupied, depending on how much you work you might be able to make enough to sustain a basic lifestyle.

I think if you don't have someone you trust to moonlace with, getting a job is probably the safest option. It's preferable to asking strangers to hold your hand.

Really? What kind of job do you do, can I ask? I got something myself recently, but it's pretty basic. I don't really have a lot of skills to build on just yet.

There are people I trust, but...mm. I think it's a hard thing to ask for, either way.

sadly i don't have much experience with balancing school and work
since proper schooling wasn't something that was required for me

i would think that working a part-time job should be sustainable though
i work two myself
one of them is for fun and the other was to get my friend to stop harassing me to get a real job
but since the housing isn't an expense you need to worry about it should be good enough to get by
just please take care of yourself though
because i know it could be dangerous if you run low on chroma

as for playing music, what were you interested in any way?
i play a few instruments and could help with supplemental lessons if need be

Boy, it really must be fun if you're doing it even though you don't have to! What kinds of jobs are they? A lot of my friends have special skills but I'm pretty average, I think, so I had to start with something basic.

Oh, and — I was in a club at school, I played the violin. It's been a while since I played but I'm hoping I didn't forget THAT much of it.

If you have powers and use them you will need Chroma sometimes. I have a job but I need Chroma for that. Demicroma is fine for purchasing food and clothes.

Balancing classes and a job can be difficult, but its doable. You have to make sure you structure your scheduled to accommodate both. I'm doing that myself, taking classes here and work jobs.

Really? That's nice to know, that people are able to find a balance of both. Can I ask what you're studying, and what job you do?

For me, I have a hard time sitting still, so I'd probably find a way to work a job or two anyway, but I was lucky to land a pretty good job when I got here! It was just a one-time thing, but I liked having the Demichroma to fall back on. Normal Chroma is fine too but it's a bit embarrassing just asking for it sometimes lol. It feels a little like propositioning someone, if you're not careful...

Mm, I feel the same way, about the normal Chroma. I don't mind if it's just something like asking to hold someone's hand a little, or even a quick hug, but you'll never earn enough to get by off of just doing that, so...

Can I ask what kind of job you did? Even if it was one time only, I'd like to hear about what possibilities are out there! Right now I'm just waiting tables. It's enough to get by, but it's not what I want to do forever, either.

Anyway, I think I'd like to perform, yeah! I played the violin when I was in school, but I think I'd like to try just about anything with a stage and an audience.

As someone who just graduated high school before I came here I'm looking into part time classes as well. It'll help me get a better grasp of Lunatia culture and magic!

Balancing school and work seems tough but it's doable, and if you do both part time you should still have plenty of free time to pursue other things you want.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. I think maybe I just need to get into a routine with it, and then it'll get a lot easier.

I've never taken classes and work at the same time, so I honestly could not tell you exactly if it's difficult or not - but it's definitely doable from what I've seen back home.

Although I will say this: even if you go to school here, there's no guarantee what you might learn at the Academy here will be even remotely relevant back where you're from, if you wind up going.
