Last month I woke up to wolf ears and teeth along with the ability to smell everything in a five mile radius.

Today I wake up to my hair becoming tentacles and with half a mind of their own.

Anyone willing to help me wrangle these things into a ponytail or something? They keep smacking me in the face. I'll pay in Chroma. [There's a suggestive wink as she says that.]

[It doesn't take very long for Ace to actually arrive. He's quick on his feet, and doesn't get too distracted. But once he arrives, it kind of hits him that it probably wasn't very polite for him to not introduce himself. So once the door is open, he waves and quickly makes up for that.] I'm Ace, Ace D. [He's actually kind of amazed at how they look in person. They're charming, kind of like how some people braid their hair in thick coils and keep it that way. Only moving like they're thinking on their own. And hell, maybe they are. This place is full of weird things...]

It's fine! [He grins, watching how one of them moves.] My hair's pretty unruly, so I've got a lot of practice. What have you been trying to tie them with?

[Ace gently pushes that one away, and pulls a long ribbon out of the pocket of his shorts.]

Maybe they just wanna be treated nicely. I dunno, they're acting kinda defensive right now, and those ties look like they'd be uncomfortable. [He figures he can coax them carefully into a ponytail, if nothing else.]

From what I was hearing from someone else... they might be more normal than we think.

[She grabs the troublesome one for a second as if trying to get it to take a damn chill pill.]

You know, I didn't think about that. I was mostly focused on how I look like a tentacle medusa, but without the stone powers.

[Ace can't imagine it. His own hair is enough of a mess to deal with, and it just hates being combed. He can't imagine hair that can literally refuse to behave.]

Is this something to do with moonblessings? [He's gathering the rest, ever so carefully. He's got a gentle touch.]

That might be it. I had wolf traits this time last month, so maybe I just ended up with something different this time around.

Yeah? This place is kind of crazy that way. What kinda wolf traits did you get?

[Ace hums a little as he gathers the tentacles of hair gently with careful hands. They're a little unruly, sure, but he thinks that he's got this.] Do you want a high or low ponytail? I've almost got this done, I think.

Odds are good it'll only happen this once. There have been a couple of other temporary transformation variants.

Good to know. They aren't bad, but I'd rather go back to what I had before. It was easier to manage.

Do these variants happen often then? Or just here and there?

So far it seems they've been popping up every other month or so. This is almost certainly tied to that disaster with the jellyfish in some way, since the others were also connected to an outside influence.

The unusual transformations don't always hit everyone, either. The first two, as far as I've been able to narrow down, were triggered by specific drinks. It's probably too early yet to say if this is following the same pattern or has some other cause.

It's comforting to know he's not the only one suffering from this strange oddity, but it doesn't make him feel any better. If anything, he's even more annoyed knowing that this freaky place screwing up everyone else's hair too.]
