[ Loosing an eye, getting his heart ripped out, dying and becoming whole, then getting his heart ripped out again was definitely a Thing. ]

[Not that he disagrees, of course.  He's part-Xehanort; commitment to aesthetics is in his blood.  It's just that it wouldn't have quite occurred to him to actually put it that way.]

And indeed.  It is ... more worthwhile to leave one's mark on the world than otherwise.
