Attempting to stop it is better than giving up, giving in to Fate. Even if it didn't work, at least I'd be with the people I care about when the world ended.

I suppose, but I can't change the past, and there's not much to look forward to. But, I already know that I'm trash, and accepting that seems better than lying to myself.

[Xemnas can understand the temptation, to be honest. Some of the apparent side effects are something he could do without, sure - namely the ghost hands - but there's something to be said for curiosity besides. And the possibility of being told a variety of things people might have otherwise preferred to keep under wraps, even if there's often very little direct context for same.]

[He knows that Xigbar has lived through the destruction of Radiant Garden, yes. But the question of whether or not that can be called an apocalypse is another matter entirely. Especially in the face of Xehanort's Grand Master Plan.]
