[The feed starts in the rather nondescript living room of one of the apartments new arrivals get directed to when they first make it here. Home decor hasn't yet been a priority since Moran has arrived, and even if it were, he would leave it entirely to his more savvy housemate.

Addressing a video feed is a bit weird, because he is just talking at a machine, but his face is nothing but pleasantly inquisitive. He knows how to hide discomfort.]

I am looking for someone who could possibly point me in the right direction. I wish to have a fan custom made.

It needs to look like this.

[He grabs a fan on the nearby table and opens it, and though trial and error for a few seconds, manages to angle it so the motif is visible.

The fan is dark green silk, with a delicate drawing of a lotus flower and clouds in white on it. After a few seconds, he turns it around to show that the reverse has exactly the same color, except the décoration there is Chinese characters, also written in white. A few more seconds and he closes it and puts it away.]

I need it to be exactly identical, except for the colors which need to be reversed. I would be very grateful if anyone knows of a maker who could accomplish this.

Let's find a maker first, and then we can work the details out. Yours might be a little difficult to use as a model.

All right. [ Yes, those. And the broken frame, too. But he figured, between Moran's fan as an example of the details, and Xunxian's as a sample of the colors. or something.

But then he shakes his head, and smiles - not too twisted, either. ]

[ He comes closer, reaching out to place his hand in Moran's without hesitating. ]

[And right now, he think it's very important for him to hold his promises, especially to you.]

I don't that this is going to help much.... but you just don't look right without it.

[ His mouth twists a bit, but it's not pained. Just. Too many words trying to come out. ]

I was going to get us a new matching pair as soon as I found or could make something appropriately made. But this is - good. Even better.

We can always get a new matching pair as well. It's just important to me that you also get this one back.

[Because this pair of fans is a cherished treasure.]

[ Xunxian swallows, his throat thick. Then he breathes out long, and moves to sit down next to Moran - or at his feet, if next to him isn't plausible.

Right now, he could wax poetic about how it feels when someone understands. Xunxian would never have asked for a replica fan himself. Because to do so would have felt like severing the connection between, well, not them, but the fans, and that is part of what makes the fans special. He would have replaced Moran's in a heartbeat, though.

And Moran is replacing his, and it feels both absolutely right and at the same time like he could cry. Ahhh... ]

[Moran puts an arm around XunXian's shoulders, letting the warmth of the Moonlacing wash over the two of them.]

This fan... I have treasured it for all these years.

[So much that he was rarely seen without it, always carrying it on his person.]

[ A moment, then between the moonlacing and simply Moran's embrace, Xunxian crumples a little against him. Not making him take his entire weight, just... closer. ]

[ It's just that the request has stunned him and he's barely beginning to pull out of that. ]

[Moran leans his head against XunXian's too, although he remains solid.]

It will take a few weeks to have it done, though. So in the end you might want to find yourself another one so you have something.

[ Xunxian shakes his head slightly. ]

I'll wait. Now that you've made it possible, I want my fan.
