[ The video comes on and it appears to be neatly propped up on a desk. He's spinning a pen between his fingers. It's clear he's sitting at a desk, given by how much you can see of him. He's never posted to the network before. ]
A couple of you may know this, but I am a manga-ka at home, and obtained a physical copy my series about a month ago. Not long ago, I did get a publisher and I'm able to get additional prints of it so that I do not have to lend out my only copy.
[ But that is only partially the point of this post. ]
I'm in the process of developing a new series. There's only so much to work with within my own experiences. I've drawn many pieces of scenery here, filled up sketchbooks with pictures of Prismals and Moonblessed alike.
[ He sets his pen down on his desk, and stops playing with it. ]
So that's where I come to you. I'd like to hear stories about your life prior to here. Whether that is an interesting story or fact about you or the world you come from.
[ Oh, yeah. ]
And, one more thing. I guess, since I'm feeling generous. If anyone would like to see if I drew them - just let me know. I'd recommend posting a video. I draw what I like so there's no guarantees, but it's possible.
[ ooc; i'm happy to have had him draw p. much anyone who would be spending regular time at the park, especially if they sit still for a few minutes when there since that's where he draws most his inspiration from! ;) ]

There was a little boy who lived in a small village with his mother and father. It was peaceful and quiet, populated with kind people from all walks of life, a great distance from the known kingdoms of the world but still considered a safe place.
One day, though, an orphaned little girl, scared and hungry wandered into the village. She dug a mouldy loaf of bread out of the garbage but was caught by some of the local children and bullied for her "strange clothing" and the bread.
The little boy stumbled across this scene but was gripped by fear, young and easily frightened by any chance of conflict. He intended to run away rather than get involved, but he crashed into the legs of his father who had also walked over to see what the ruckus was. The girl, worried she would get in trouble for what she had taken, ran off to hide. The bully boys also left, and the boy's father told him that sometimes the worst action to take, was taking no action at all. Of course by that point the girl had already run off, but the boy went to bed with his father's words weighing on his mind as well as the fate of the stranger in his village.
He wasn't left to wonder for long, though, as terrible creatures attacked the town in such numbers that they were unable to be kept at bay. Unfortunately in the chaos of it all his mother perished beneath their collapsed house, and his father was mortally wounded.
As he lay on the ground struggling to get back up, he gave his son a dagger and told him that he had to be brave before going to fight the worst of the creatures one last time.
The boy hid in tears, terrified and trembling, but he saw beneath one of the houses that the girl was hiding in a similar state to him but so close to being killed. He felt a strange calm wash over him and ran to her, telling her to be brave as well. She clung to him in fear and that same calm that came over him seemingly transferred to her as well, saving them from being devoured by the monsters.
Once the threat had gone away he handed her a small wooden toy hammer and told her "We'll protect each other".
The town was abandoned with few survivors, including the two children, but true to his word they protected one another for many years after it all.

Is this story just a story - or something that happened where you're from? [ Look. He's not going to ask if it happened to him. ] I'm assuming you mean literal monsters. Traditional ones that people would think of and less in a metaphorical sense.
[ There's a distinction here he's trying to make. ]

Well, since you asked, it is my story. The girl became my best friend, Nora Valkyrie. And yes, literal monsters. Creatures of Grimm. They're a known and very dangerous threat in Remnant, even now. I actually went to train to become a Huntsman with her because of what happened to us.

[ He's not mocking - nor does he sound like it. ]

[Or does Ren just not consider himself a hero.]
