I have two questions that are tangentially related.

1. Should you discover that someone you love is vehemently against returning that level of intimacy, would you cut off all moonlacing activities and concentrate solely on a non-physical mutual friendship? If not, what alternative solution or solutions do you believe should be considered?

2. Given that our involuntary stay upon this planet is only temporary, is there any reason to pursue or expect romantic intimacy with anyone who is not from your place of origin?

ok let's say theoretically that they do this
i'd probably ask what's allowed and what isn't
is handholding on or off the table etc
if it's physical contact they can't deal with then there's other stuff you can do
dating
maybe like holding the same ribbon together. not really holding hands but close to it.

2. i can actually answer this with personal experience
there's someone i'm seeing right now who's from the same planet as me, but from a different time period
we've never met until now
and we probably will never meet
but we're giving it a shot anyway.
i want to some happy memories
even if it's not forever

Regarding the first question, I should clarify that the other person is primarily the one who desires intimate physical contact. As I have no desire to engage in a one-sided relationship, I am currently attempting to change my feelings to a more comfortable neutrality. The physicality makes such attempts exceedingly difficult.

As for the second, I am pleased to hear that you've found success. Do you believe it will be worth the inevitable heartbreak of separation? Forgive the callous nature of the question, but I am asking in earnest rather than making a personal accusation.

i thought about that
but i've suffered heartbreak before
and the way i looked at it was more like
i have this second chance to make some good memories for once. i'll hate being separated, especially if it gets deeper, but i'd rather have the experience than wonder and yearn.
that's not for everyone and i get that but separation is way easier to deal with than other things that could go wrong.

While I confess that the physical intimacy is pleasant, I am ultimately unsatisfied if the emotional element is not present and never will be. Hence my reluctance to continue as such.

I both admire and envy your optimism and willingness to share experiences that must be quite personal to you. Perhaps, at the very least, I shall attempt to be more open-minded about the possibility. There are many present of whom I have grown fond.
