( The doctor may be recognizable to some here already, or as one of the longer-term dancers during the festival or someone repeatedly pulled into the compatibility booths giggling up a storm because she was ticklish. (Or that fiendish person who posted up five different people on the moonlace partnering app.) Today she's donning a warm little smile, a sunny dress, and a white lab coat, even if she's woefully missing a stethoscope about her collar.
And no more deer traits in sight, thankfully; considerably more put together. (Also thankfully.) The apartment behind her is just as sunny and accented in golds and dark blues, tidy and cozy with blankets visible over the arm of the sofa and some other chair to the side. )
Good afternoon everyone; I'm Dr. Angela Ziegler, one of many who appeared on the moon and were brought back to Prismatica here, having since settled in. I hope this finds everyone well. It's been a tumultuous few weeks already, hasn't it? It seems with the more prominent moons having faded back out, we'll have some margin of relief. That is why I wanted to post, however.
I realize many who were brought here may not be comfortable bringing their concerns up with the officials or scientists here. I was approached by quite a few people through the last few phases seeking help and I thought I would turn that offer outward. I'm not a general practitioner, exactly, as my specialties lie more in trauma and restorative surgery, but I've done a vast amount of work across multiple specialties and general care, and I was a Chief Medical Officer for a peacekeeping organization for some years as well. It should be plenty.
I can't begin to fathom how the moons may affect everyone going forward nor will I know the extent of what is possible or "normal" until I've seen it enough times in others, but I can at least offer some form of reassurance or a medical record of sorts to see what has changed or ensure you're all right. If anyone would like me to check in on them around the expected time, I can do that as well.
( Presuming she's able to leave the house herself, during the Iris phase. Last time was... well. She attempted a self-quarantine from how intense it had hit, not wanting to bother the public or be bothered by the public. Fingers crossed it isn't always that way. )
I may consider a clinic of sorts if our situation here leans toward something semi-permanent, but until then it is something I would either pick a friend's empty apartment for or make a house call. All we can do is try to keep an eye out for one another, and treat each other well.
Thank you for the moment of your time, and if anyone has any questions, I'll keep an eye on replies here for a bit, or you are welcome to message me privately. I would also appreciate if anyone feels comfortable telling me what they've experienced here so I can help apply it to others.
( She's taking a sip of her coffee and about to wave some little toodle-loo goodbye just as someone's footsteps sound to the side and she clicks off the feed with a slight brightening of the eyes. Probably the reason she doesn't do it out of her apartment!
Feel free to hit her with zany medical Q&A, relay your own experiences to help build her Prismatica Side Effects journal, or just come chat because she looks nice! As an aside, please feel free to assume characters from the new round saw this / feel free to reply! #timing... )

When the video flips on his chin is propped up in a gloved hand, sharp nails drumming against the table thoughtfully.]
I suppose that makes enough sense, and it's a good idea to offer an option that doesn't require someone to go to the locals around here. For all we know they could be making us into their lab rats. You should be mindful of any medicines or supplies you get from them, though.

I don't imagine there's any ill will from the scientists, at least not yet, but there is no telling how long that way last or when the novelty will wear off and we become something of a burden to their society.
I had already planned on avoiding their goods as much as possible though, yes. Especially for medical usage. If I can make my own, I will do so in a heartbeat, provided I can synthesize the right ingredients. It's never been my forte but I can stumble my way around some anesthetics and acetaminophen. You sound quite versed on the subject, though. May I ask where your specialties may lie?
no subject
[But he's also distrusting and a cynic, especially where matters of being a test subject are involved.]
But that's a good idea. You never what sorts of adverse side-effects there might be or if what they'd give you would actually be what you asked for.
[Ah, but there's the question whose answer will either make people interested or suspicious. Not that he isn't used to it by now, so he barely even pauses a beat before responding.] My specialty is vampires.

( There is nothing wrong with being wary, but don't let it hinder your ability to find the good around you, as well! Angela's pushing 40 and she's seen her fair share of tragedies, but she still has a certain brightness in her eyes when she looks at the world. It's dimmed from how radiant it used to be, but it is still there.
Most people are good at heart. )
There comes a point where trust simply has to exist in some vacuum or another. Much the same could be said of me and my intentions, and people would have the right to be wary of any medicine I give them. But that is on an individual basis to make these decisions and figure out if someone wants to trust me and take the risk. All I can say is that I will do my best to help others to the full extent of my abilities.
( He gets precisely half a beat out of her, before: )
Oh! My. Do they exist where you've come from?
( Look. One of her first partners in this place is apparently a devil. She's broadening her horizons rather quickly and she knows a brilliant talking gorilla from the moon, who happens to be an amazing scientist. There is no room for disbelief here. )
no subject
He supposes it doesn't matter too much if she's lying, though. It isn't his business if it doesn't hinder him.]
That's true enough. It just depends on how desperate someone is and if they consider the risks.
[Then he grins a little.] That's right, they do.
no subject
People die, and fight for what they believe in to little progress, and there is still plenty of wrong in the world. But she can look for the best in those around her and offer the best of herself, and sleep a little easier for it. Then again, the only monsters in her world are those that humans created in themselves. Even the Omnics, having waged war against humanity via manipulation by rogue programs, were created by humans.
Everyone had their own limits. She's had such excellent support no matter how young her losses began; perhaps that's kept her resilient. )
Well, I'll be quite flattered if you ever decide to place yourself in my hands, then. Knowing you'll have thought it over so thoroughly.
( Angela don't tease!! No matter how gentle a ribbing it may be. That's unfortunately just how she is. )
I've only ever known of them from the media, as fictional things. What are they like? If it isn't a difficult subject.
no subject
You definitely should be, I don't take that sort of thing lightly. Although having myself in the hands of someone so beautiful does make it more tempting~
[He can't resist teasing himself, even if he's mostly not serious. He just wants to see the sort of reaction he gets.]
That's a pretty broad question, though. I mean I can't speak to what they're like personality-wise because in general they're almost exactly the same as humans in that respect. [They're just as bad, that is.] But based on what other people here have told me about their perceptions of vampires they're a little different than your fairy tales or whatever. While some of them can certainly be bloodthirsty they're not indiscriminate killers usually, and they don't turn into bats or spread some disease with their bite. Of course their bites can have other sorts of effects.
no subject
If he's looking for a reaction, it's mild enough. She laughs into the curl of her fingers, a touch demure, because he looks quite young and it's harmless enough for a flirt. It's taken with good humor and as the simple thing it is. )
I should hope you take more into consideration for your care than how attractive the doctor may be!
( Right, Vampires™. Onto other matters that aren't discouraging boys half your age from flirting. )
Ah, yes unfortunately that's about the media stereotype of them, though there are other cultures that have different spins on them. Some of them in China, for example, apparently hop instead of moving normally. The common denominator is usually that they require blood to survive as the undead. Medically, it seems unsound. If their systems have degraded to such a point, I don't see how fresh blood does them any good if their organs are no longer functioning to supply it throughout their bodies.
( Angela you're overthinking this??? )
But if they are people and still retain a large portion of their humanity, I can see why it'd be a difficult subject, certainly. And their longevity...? Are they well-known where you're from, or do they essentially exist in the shadows?
no subject
Oh I do, but it's always a nice surprise so it's hard to pass up~
[But he doesn't seem upset or bothered by the change in subject. In fact he seems almost amused that someone has put so much thought into the matter, especially when they're from a world where vampires don't exist outside of fiction.]
They don't work at all like that. They're essentially a completely different species from humans, although you could say that humanity was something of a framework for their origins. [He rests his chin back into a gloved hand.]
They're pretty well-known and generally live among people, but they have an easy enough time of concealing what they are unless they go on some sort of rampage. It used to be a lot more chaotic and violent back when they first emerged.
sorry for the wait! I'd lost the tags to this post 😭
Well in this case I'd have to say you're quite lucky; not to flatter myself overmuch, but I am rather skilled in nearly anything requiring medical attention. I'll have you patched right up.
Short of vampirism, at least. And I wouldn't imagine it works that way, no. Hence why the pop culture knowledge around them is flimsy at best. If they're another species, may I ask if they still require blood, then, or is that part of the myth as well? I'm glad to hear that it isn't nearly so monstrous for you as old tales would have anyone believe.
I'd be interested to know how you decided to get involved in another species and why, if you'd be comfortable sharing.
( She's resting her chin in her palms as well, pleasantly engaged in the subject and clearly interested. No mockery, no disbelief, just... hearing him out and asking questions to flesh out the idea in her mind. )
It's no problem!!
[Not like he'd likely have to even try, really. Given his habit of throwing himself thoughtlessly into danger against beings who are much stronger than him it's only a matter of time really, not helped by his Sanguis moonblessing.]
They don't really require blood, at least not in order for them to live. Of course there are vampires who are addicted to it or who actively kill humans because they become ill and cannot control their bloodthirst, but in general they're able to draw nutrition from normal food.
[He hums thoughtfully then, tilting his head. What reason would be the most interesting to tell her? Should he be vague or go for a lie? Or perhaps even the truth?]
Hm~ Because only I have the ability to save them.
no subject
( It's amused with a little huff of laughter, but look, she's here for you regardless. She doesn't want to be a scolding auntie!! But she can be if she has to. )
That's good to hear, at least. So do you treat the ones who are ill, I take it?
( How mysterious! )
no subject
[Honestly Vanitas needs more people to scold him in his life, although even when they're there it rarely stops him from being impulsive.]
That's right. Sometimes they come to me directly, but I also have informants back home who help me find patients.
no subject
( She'll do her best, then, to keep him on his toes. )
And what is the usual course of treatment?
no subject
I have a special item that can cure them.
[Granted they aren't too far gone, of course. But there's really no point in getting into that since as far as he's been able to tell the book won't effect anyone here.]
no subject
( She has some "trade secrets" of her own, in the form of patented-to-the-moon-and-back nanotechnology she doesn't want twisted for ill. It's precisely for this reason she won't pry too far, unfortunately. )
Well, I hope we get the chance to meet soon, young sir. Perhaps I can earn enough of your trust that we can discuss it a little bit more. Unless there was something else you wanted to ask after...?
no subject
[He chuckles and shrugs before grinning mischievously.]
Oh, are you proposing a date~? [Vanitas stop.]
no subject
( She wouldn't mind feeding him; if he wants to call it a date, then let it be a date. She'll probably even kiss his
headcheek on the way out! She's sincere when she says she's interested in his work, and perhaps being able to impart some knowledge if at all possible to help him along. Everyone here could use a few friends, no? )no subject
[Maybe it will keep him out of trouble, anyway.
Mostly he's pushing the whole "date" thing to see how long it takes for her to chide him or tell him to stop. It's more interesting to see how far he can push his flirting, even if he has no intention of actually following through too far in the end. But he's aware that he's handsome enough for his age and if all else fails it's beneficial to use that to get information where threats or violence aren't the first choice.]
no subject
( Good luck waiting her out, Vanitas. She's only going to chide flirting if it gets handsy. Her patience is very difficult to test, honest. He's right though that he's handsome, and that he'll certainly get more out of her just being pleasant and going to coffee with her than trying to threaten her. She'll have none of it. )
no subject
[Generally Vanitas doesn't get violent unless he feels like he's being manipulated or is threatened himself, but of course he can also be wildly unpredictable. Being under the Sanguis moonblessing hasn't helped with that, either. But... Normally he's fine, if a bit blunt.]
no subject
Thankfully not quite yet; I can squeeze you in tomorrow morning if you insist. Shall we call it 10? I know just the little bakery.
( She'll send him a location pin; it's near the beach and a bit on the pricey side, but it's her treat, after all. )
no subject
[He flashes another grin, winking before giving a little wave and ending the video.]
