my respectful salute to everyone reading this. my name is wei wuxian, from the yunmeng jiang sect. i have some questions and a request, if it pleases.

from what i've been told, moonlacing is the practice of creating chroma. it requires at least two willing participants, and physical contact is involved.

how much contact is needed? would exposed skin touching covered skin work? how long does one need to be in contact with their moonlacing partner in order to succeed in creating chroma, what's the bare minimum? how exactly is it stored, and can you learn how moonlacing is done? has anyone succeeded in moonlacing by themselves? are there limitations to moonlacing? does it still work if your partner is unconscious, or otherwise unable to participate due to injury or some other misfortune? how quickly can you lose chroma, what's the quickest that anyone's ever drained their reserves?

i have so many questions!

anyway, my request is this: would anyone be willing to help me test the answers to these questions by moonlacing with me? i'll be more than grateful for the help!

It's nice to speak to you, Young Master Wei! You seem to have quite an interest in the intricacies of moonlacing. May I ask if it is simple curiosity, or are you hoping to have some sort of plans regarding the creation of chroma?

i want to learn about it! how it's done, what's needed for it to be done, what its limitations are. it's a discipline native to this world, isn't it? yet the persons who are capable of practicing it aren't from these parts, from what i understand. was it discovered by accident or was it developed specifically for the so-called moonblessed? wouldn't it imply premeditation if it's the latter?

I'm not sure I'd call it a discipline...it seems much more natural than spiritual cultivation, as far as I can tell. Even the slightest touch seems to be able to count as moonlacing, as if we were all natural conductors of chroma. I admit I don't know much of the specifics myself, though the natives seem to be not much better than the rest of us in that respect.

Perhaps you could find someone you trust to try things out with? I suppose I could offer help myself, to a certain degree, but - oh, sparring can also generate chroma! So if you'd like to test that, I'm always happy to oblige.

then chroma is innate to us, and we're only releasing it through contact? i'm curious now, how did anyone discover that it can be done at all?where can i find records about it, if there are any?

ah, all that aside - i'll gladly spar with you! by hand or by sword, or if you have a weapon you prefer than i can learn it too. do you have a preference?

That seems to be the case, yes! I can't tell you who discovered it first, but the libraries in the city appear to be free to the public, and I believe the organization trying to research the subject was called Lunar Saientia. [He definitely messed up that name somehow.]

Swords are just fine. I have some experience with a variety of different weapons, but swords are admittedly my weapon of choice. Perhaps we could even exchange some pointers!

ah, those guys! i met one of them when i first arrived, actually! he looked just like me too, and it was a little disconcerting. the library he took me to was vast, as well - too vast, actually. it was rather overwhelming, the amount of information you could just look up, and so easily too!

if i could just learn everything in one night...!
