[ after an embarrassingly long time spent figuring out the functions of the communication bracelet - look, it's a lot to take in all in one go - wei wuxian types out a message that's equal parts honest inquiry and throwing things on a wall to see what sticks. ]
my respectful salute to everyone reading this. my name is wei wuxian, from the yunmeng jiang sect. i have some questions and a request, if it pleases.
[ okay, the manners part is done. wei wuxian can now go wild. ]
from what i've been told, moonlacing is the practice of creating chroma. it requires at least two willing participants, and physical contact is involved.
how much contact is needed? would exposed skin touching covered skin work? how long does one need to be in contact with their moonlacing partner in order to succeed in creating chroma, what's the bare minimum? how exactly is it stored, and can you learn how moonlacing is done? has anyone succeeded in moonlacing by themselves? are there limitations to moonlacing? does it still work if your partner is unconscious, or otherwise unable to participate due to injury or some other misfortune? how quickly can you lose chroma, what's the quickest that anyone's ever drained their reserves?
i have so many questions!
anyway, my request is this: would anyone be willing to help me test the answers to these questions by moonlacing with me? i'll be more than grateful for the help!
thank you for your time!

when you say sex, but not all sex - i was under the impression the act is indiscriminate by nature.

That goes for other contact, too. From caresses and embraces, to sparring, to whatever other form is chosen. It only produces chroma if it is pleasing for both. Or all.
Emotional bond does sometimes enhance the pleasure, but it is not always the case.

then consent matters, above all. it has to be mutual, first and foremost.

may i ask? have you had trouble with moonlacing before?

[ See, he really wasn't making bad assumptions. Sometimes, it is like that, and if one goes that way and there is no Chroma produced, then it might be an unexpected and unpleasant result. ]
Me? Not really. Then again, I live with two people I am used to indulging, so I would rather have plenty. But I do work at the Flux, which is an establishment that provides the service of hiring someone for the purposes of moonlacing. I have made my point to learn what to avoid.

[it's another tidbit to consider - that this place may be taking people from their homes and keeping them together, either to inspire loyalty or to hold them hostage. wei wuxian has thoughts regarding the matter, and they are many and myriad.
he'll sort through them later. more pressing concerns are at hand.]
that occupation sounds rather... salacious, if i may? is it comfortable? are you well-protected?

[ That is certainly one way to look at it, and not necessarily a wrong one. Especially given how Hanzo is taking the loss of his brother... ]
Ah, thank you for the concern. It is a lovely establishment, as a matter of fact. Novel for me, but it seems to work well here. And yes, the security is good.
Is the equivalent, less moonlacing, be dangerous where you are from?

and to answer your question, well. it's not that it's dangerous. it's just frowned upon, to have intimate relations with someone out of wedlock, and it's particularly complicated for me given the clan's name that i carry. i was adopted by uncle jiang, who was a good friend to my parents. i was orphaned young, you see. and uncle jiang, he's not just some ordinary cultivator, he's the sect leader and head of his clan. any dishonor i bring to my name is twice the dishonor to his.
i don't want to disappoint him, especially not like that.
i'd like to be able to kiss girls i like, though, given the chance to do so without reprimand. and only if they like me back too! to connect with other people like that, it must be wonderful.

And that is... interesting. Not quite so where we come from - as long as there is understanding and especially if nobody is hurt by the happenings - potential offspring included, it is no particularly remarked.
I suppose in this place you will need to decide if you will hold yourself back for the sake of your uncle's opinion or keep yourself safe - and others who might be in need.
