[ after an embarrassingly long time spent figuring out the functions of the communication bracelet - look, it's a lot to take in all in one go - wei wuxian types out a message that's equal parts honest inquiry and throwing things on a wall to see what sticks. ]

my respectful salute to everyone reading this. my name is wei wuxian, from the yunmeng jiang sect. i have some questions and a request, if it pleases.

[ okay, the manners part is done. wei wuxian can now go wild. ]

from what i've been told, moonlacing is the practice of creating chroma. it requires at least two willing participants, and physical contact is involved.

how much contact is needed? would exposed skin touching covered skin work? how long does one need to be in contact with their moonlacing partner in order to succeed in creating chroma, what's the bare minimum? how exactly is it stored, and can you learn how moonlacing is done? has anyone succeeded in moonlacing by themselves? are there limitations to moonlacing? does it still work if your partner is unconscious, or otherwise unable to participate due to injury or some other misfortune? how quickly can you lose chroma, what's the quickest that anyone's ever drained their reserves?

i have so many questions!

anyway, my request is this: would anyone be willing to help me test the answers to these questions by moonlacing with me? i'll be more than grateful for the help!

thank you for your time!

Young Master Wei, the losing of Chroma is complicated because we use it up when we use spiritual energy, and it is also the currency here, so we lose it when we buy things, and for those under one of the three moons, it is even more complicated, because they burn it during the moon cycles.

So while experimenting is a good idea, I suggest that you try not to stay at what you consider the minimum...

As far as I know: other than the risk of turning into a small animal, the second moon - Cordis - is the only one which might lead to an effect that's lethal. And no, the moons do not affect each person equally, some are not affected much, or at all, and some may be affected in more than one way, and some people are under the effect of one moon for a while, then under the effect of another.

I am under the influence of the Iris moon, and I turn into a rabbit when its effect is alone; it affects me much less when the three moons are all active, usually. Though even as a rabbit I retain my speech and my cultivation, so it is not too bad.

Senior Wei turns into a wolf under the effect of Sanguis, and I... think he doesn't like it very much. Also those ho turn into deer under Iris seem to find the antlers inconvenient and unpleasant both.

[ Because... dogs. ]

[ Sizhui knows that there are various types of danger. Some are final, and others are mostly in the mind but are no less important. He is giving as much of a range in his answer as he can. Plus, it is better to be prepared, isn't it? ]

Of course you may see - I tend to avoid going out for the case of not worrying Hanguang-Jun, but I could, or you could come visit. It won't happen for at least a week, I don't think, though. I'll let you know!

Of course you may ask, Young Master Wei! I'll do my best to answer - though if you'd rather do so in person, I can come find you?

Yes, Young Master Wei. Here and in our world both.

Though I did gather that you didn't think so, for a while. Hanguang-jun can be a little difficult to read, sometimes.

It's...

I think you are looking at him from the wrong premise, though, of course, I haven't seen what you two's interactions were at your age. But I have reason to believe that you are more important to him than any of the rules.

If it helps, Senior Wei also didn't really know the ending. It upset Hanguang-jun rather a lot at the time. He... had waited for a long time already.

And... I am not sure. Between the Cloud Recesses not allowing pets, and my best friend's fondness of chicken wings, I really haven't had a chance to find out.

Oh, not impatient. It is... complicated, but I can promise you, Hanguang-Jun is never impatient - or at least never acts on it. And of course! If you have more, I'll answer those as well.

All right! But I'm not bringing it home for its own safety - there is Jingyi who would just eye it as food, and there is Jin Ling, who shows up here as a cat. Not safe.
