[ after an embarrassingly long time spent figuring out the functions of the communication bracelet - look, it's a lot to take in all in one go - wei wuxian types out a message that's equal parts honest inquiry and throwing things on a wall to see what sticks. ]
my respectful salute to everyone reading this. my name is wei wuxian, from the yunmeng jiang sect. i have some questions and a request, if it pleases.
[ okay, the manners part is done. wei wuxian can now go wild. ]
from what i've been told, moonlacing is the practice of creating chroma. it requires at least two willing participants, and physical contact is involved.
how much contact is needed? would exposed skin touching covered skin work? how long does one need to be in contact with their moonlacing partner in order to succeed in creating chroma, what's the bare minimum? how exactly is it stored, and can you learn how moonlacing is done? has anyone succeeded in moonlacing by themselves? are there limitations to moonlacing? does it still work if your partner is unconscious, or otherwise unable to participate due to injury or some other misfortune? how quickly can you lose chroma, what's the quickest that anyone's ever drained their reserves?
i have so many questions!
anyway, my request is this: would anyone be willing to help me test the answers to these questions by moonlacing with me? i'll be more than grateful for the help!
thank you for your time!

ah, can we have more donuts, too? i ate up the ones we got the last time.
[ for his part, wei wuxian is just happily carrying on like there's nothing to worry about. he's got a pet project to tend to. he met a dear friend, and will soon meet his brother. he's going to hold hands with the first friend he's made in this strange place.
things are going well, if wei wuxian may say so. ]
i'm at the park, by that one fountain with a lady holding a jar.
tooo action
[So it takes her a bit longer to get there since she has to stop to get a half-dozen variety donuts for him, but when she shows up she doesn't seem at all bothered by the detour as she looks for him.
Hopefully he actually didn't leave or she's tossing these donuts in the fountain.
(Okay no she won't but she'll be very sad, which is like, just as bad?)]
accione!
wei wuxian sits cross-legged on the edge of the fountain, surrounded by pigeons. they haven't pooped on him yet, but who knows when his luck will run out? wei wuxian is playing a game of catch and release, and the birds surprisingly don't seem to mind.
when the lady kozukata shows up, wei wuxian straightens up and smiles, waving her over. ]
I'm right here! What's in the box, are those donuts for me?

She lifts her hand in a shy greeting, wandering over and eyeing the birds that hop away a little at her approach.] Mm. [Yep these are his!! She hands the box over, the donuts inside being a mix of different kinds since she was sure he'd rather try a bunch of different ones rather than eating the same.]
You're pretty good with animals. [Yuri didn't consider herself either good or bad with them, but she tended to prefer their company over humans. She takes a seat next to him anyway, watching him with curious, mildly concerned eyes.]
...Are you doing alright? [It's a big, overwhelming place--hell, it had overwhelmed her and she was from the modern times. She can't imagine how ti must be for him; sure he'd seemed fine when she'd taken him to the cafe and had explained all she could about the various functions of things in her apartment and all, but... It was still a lot, you know? She's genuinely concerned about him!]

perhaps it's because he's accepted everything to be equally strange across the board, leaving him assured that everything won't work in a manner familiar to him; it's made acceptance much easier, with regards to the foreign nature of the city. horseless carriages careening through the streets? sure. voices in the walls announcing his arrival? why not. indoor lighting that doesn't need fire to fuel it? amazing, someone should've invented it sooner back home.
it's why when lady kozukata walks up to him, wei wuxian has no trouble in smiling at her like she hung the sun in the sky, and graciously accepts the offered box with a quick bow before he dives into its contents. there's a mocha-filled glazed donut with raspberry trim, as well as a gorgeous cream one with almond flakes and powdered sugar. wei wuxian picks between the two, biting into the donut and moaning around the mouthful.
it's exquisitely baked. wei wuxian never wants to forget this flavor.]
I'm doing much better now, thank you. [he offers the contents of the box to share, as well.] Come on, pick one. Then we can start with our little adventure.

The offer makes her blink in surprise and she makes a small noise of protest even as she tentatively takes one of the plainer ones with a slightly exasperated look] I bought them for you, not really to share...
[Ah, well. It's a good donut and she doesn't mind, though she thinks to herself that she's going to have to pick up her bike again soon or she's going to be in trouble from eating all these sweets...]
