[ The screen turns on and Louis is shifting the camera around a little bit, as if to adjust and make sure his entire head - antlers and all - are in full view. He has his head resting in the palm of is hand as if he's considering. And though his tone sounds nothing but curious, he's not particularly amused. ]
So. I'm going to take bets on what I might be - Hurry, place them while you can!
[ There's a long pause, as if he's absolutely teasing everyone. He is. ]
I'm kidding. I've always been like this. I've experienced zero changes since arriving here a few weeks ago. No weird impulses, no personality changes, no physical changes, either.
I mean, it's not like there's some sort of personality test and you get sorted into moons or something, so there's no way for me to know unless I change what I am here.
We need one of those online quizzes that I see ads for sometimes 'Tell us your favorite foods and we'll find you the perfect vacation spot!' Except it tells you what moon you are most likely to be.
[ Raises one brow. ]
So those of you who are Iris and have antlers only during the moons - your antlers shed monthly and regrow the following month?
[ Because that sounds like it sucks to him. There's a moment's pause, and he shifts a little, leaning away from the desk and relaxing into his chair. ]
I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and say that it's probably impossible that I'm none of the above as far as the moons go. And at some point or another whatever I'm meant to be will reveal itself.
Anytime, during one of them, it'll suddenly show me what's up. And if I never change that probably means I am Iris.

You really haven't noticed any changes at all?
[No physical ones maybe she could buy, but none at all seems too good to be true...]
My body doesn't really change much during Iris either, but... I definitely feel different.
video
None. No personality changes, no physical changes. Not even the slightest color shift in my fur, or anything.
[ ...Not that he's noticed, at least. Maybe someone else would notice a personality change, but no one here knows him well enough yet. ]
It doesn't? I feel the same as usual, and have.

[She doesn’t mean to doubt him or anything, he’d know himself best, obviously... it just seems so weird? Surely something...]
I didn’t think my body would change but... sometimes my coat looks doe-y, and my hooves sometimes split...
[not that. The current video shows anything but a dark-skinned human woman’s face and torso.]
Are you magic or something special? Like... curses don’t work on you or something?

[ and her excitement is very visible with how overly happy she seems to be ]
But you really haven't had any changes? Does it not work because you're already a majestic deer? Miwako had a change, and at first it was really surprising, but then it was really cute and fun--it gave me a reason to play with and alter clothes!
Oh wait! I could show you!
[ she's very much sending over a picture she took, with her fluffy white ears and tail, miwako at least seems very happy in the photo. louis might be able to tell that those were certainly arctic fox features right there. ]
no subject
[ She's so endearing... ]
I can't imagine that's why if people who aren't human also have stuff happen to them. I can't imagine that I'm extra special or something. So, I guess we'll see. If I'm Iris it may not happen.
[ He takes the picture. ]
Ah. A fox? You're Cordis then? [ He's gotten familiar, of course. ] You did a good job altering them, and it looks like you did it how I've seen them made at home, too.
no subject
[ she was thinking on this hard for a moment, before brightening up once again ]
Yes! That's what it seems like, I don't know if I felt very different though other than having extra parts. But what I'm most excited to hear about is that my way of figuring out how to best handle this was right!
Hamada-sensei would've been very disappointed in me after spending so much time teaching us about how to make clothes more functional. It's not always fun to do, but it's very important.
[ there's a moment of thought, bringing a finger to her lips ]
Ah! Miwako just kept on going on, but didn't ask... Are you okay? Are you disappointed that you didn't get to experience any change? Or relieved?

[Cough.]
And it took a few months for it to hit me hard enough for me to notice, so maybe that's how it'll be for you?

Like, ridiculously needy. So I guess be ready for that, I can't tell you what to expect for the other moons though.

Deer person.
One who isn't by the moons, either.
cool.]
I was wonderin' if I wouldn't change when I first got here.
[Because he just so happens to have a tail already. That's enough, right?
Apparently Cordis didn't agree.]
I got big cat ears, though. ... I bet that would be really weird for you.
no subject
[ So, he can probably expect changes sometime later. ]
Did they replace your... current ears? Or were they in addition to them?
Because additional ears would be really weird to me.
[ He already has...big, floppy ears on top of his head. The image of adding more just...makes him a little uncomfortable. ]
no subject
But that's just me so like, maybe you'll get lucky and keep one set. Or not get any extra anythin'.

I’d say maybe it’s because you’re already normally like this? But a friend of mine, Red, he pretty much always looks like a wolf or something. He gets the Cordis hunger a lot.
I really wish there was some kind of consistency or criteria for all this. Sheesh!
Maybe it’ll show up later, if anything? It’s not consistent monthly either. I started out Cordis, went Sanguis, and now I’m back to Cordis again and even then, the stuff I got didn’t stay the same. It’s really bizarre and weird.
Video
[ So prepare for whatever nonsense happens monthly. Got it. That sounds just straight up awful, if he's honest. ]
Everything I'm seeing makes it seem like there's literally no basis and it is entirely random and nonsense. Cool. I'll just expect that one of these months I'm going to wake up totally surprised.
no subject
[ A sympathetic look here. Sorry, buddy. ]
I know some people have some consistency though, you might be one of them! Just hope for the best and prepare for the worst, I guess.

[ He's thinking... ]
It's not that I think they care. It's that there's a chance I'm Iris and experience zero changes unless I get a surprise later.

Dunno about the shedding. So far they just... are here. But that whole visible changes thing... the only thing I noticed my first few months was an extra kind of magic. Electrical, that kind of thing? Even then I didn't think I'd changed at all until this month when I woke up one morning with four legs, an extra torso, and antlers.
[ Which he looks bothered by, if the line of his lips is anything to judge. ]
So I mean... it might take time to understand which, but you're under some moon's influence, like you're thinking. Though I doubt saying, "I'm Iris! I never changed!" is any more true. What if you end up with magic you never try to use, and were Cordis all along? Or Sanguis?
[ He breathes out through his nose, no hands visible because he's using them to hold his communicator. ]
It's annoying.
no subject
So where do they go when you're no longer under Iris, then? Just... vanish? Do they not fall off? I have no magic so far. Nothing. You're like...a centaur, I think I heard it called?
[ Look at that. It's not like human/animal hybrids are a thing to him. ]
So, a couple of months, then. I'll just have to wait and see.
no subject
[ He reaches up to rub at the base of one antler, mussing his hair at the same time. ]
That's the thing, I think they might? But I don't know. All the changes just happen, and they might leave, or not, or they might change, or you might get more or less day to day during your moon cycle, or the three moons. There's no one way people have this stuff happen. It's freaking annoying!
[ There's a well offscreen thud as a hoof is stamped on the ground in emphasis. It is, indeed, highly annoying to him. ]

[She's so going to get antlers one month just because of her brother. She knows it.] I don't mind the tentacles. They're weird enough to be intimidating. But how the fuck am I supposed to hold my head up with those things?
[The least of her worries, really, but it hopefully prevents probing questions.]
no subject
[ ...At least, well, not to him. ]
I don't know if I want tentacles on top of my antlers. What if my antlers became tentacles. Aren't tentacles heavy?

[a talking deer isn't weird at all for ven when he already knows a talking rat, duck, and dog back home.]
It'd be pretty convienent if you are Iris! Especially seeing that you already have the antlers...
no subject
[ Alright, that makes it easy. ]
It would be super convenient to have no major changes, honestly. So, no complaints that I got off easy. I just wanted to see if I should prepare for worse.
