A shorter-term question is bothering me this time, and it's one that may affect others.

As far as I can compare the local calendar to the one I'm familiar with at home, my birthday is coming up soon. On the other hand, when I arrived here, I was expecting my birthday to be a good five months off.

Should I mark it now, or wait another three months? I can't decide which would be easier to remember. How are others grappling with it?

I don't even know when my birthday is, and Lucy doesn't talk about it.

But I'd say mark it now? I know you mentioned your birthday was a long way off for you back home, but given the local calendar it might become too confusing if you wait?

Waiting just makes it five months after arriving here. It won't muddy the waters too much.

It would also give your friends more time to prepare a party for you and finds gifts :D

Can't say I've ever heard of someone postponing their own birthday before, though.

It's not postponing, as such. Just trying to figure out how to accommodate the local calendar.

It is strange how time seems to work here, isn't it. I think it was September, or somewhere around there, in the place I was in before ending up here.

Christmas Eve, for me. [And a Christmas Eve she won't be forgetting any time soon.]

Oh? Did you get together with your family? Or friends?

I was on my way home from school at the time of my arrival here. Any such celebrations would have taken place in the evening, and I hadn't decided whether I wanted to go to midnight Mass yet.

Christmas isn't as big a deal in Japan as it is in the West, though.

I've noticed. It looks like fun, though, with all the pretty lights and decorations.

I wonder if they celebrate it here? Or some equivalent.

I suppose we'll find out at the end of the year.

Well, even if they don't celebrate Christmas, I'm sure we'll have New Years to look forward to.

New Years seems big no matter where you go.

[Except, Nyuu's amnesia prevents her from remembering past celebrations.]

[So unless the locals mark their new year at a different point of the calendar, they'll probably see something in several months.]
