Hey, so. Between those Amphoria Pods showing off our memories of home and Valentine's Day coming up next month, I have to admit I've been thinking about something a lot lately, so why not let's make a game of it?

What's the funniest, wildest, or most embarrassing thing you've ever done in order to impress somebody you liked?

It has to be something you actually did! I mean, I know there's no good way of keeping somebody from just making something up, but that'd ruin the spirit of the game, you know? Oh, and don't say something really mortifying or awful or indecent, okay? It's not supposed to be THAT kind of game. Here's a good rule of thumb: if it's not the kind of thing you can laugh about now, it's probably not the kind of thing this game is getting at!

Mm, I feel like I should offer up some kind of prize for playing, too, so...how about a free extra drink with your next purchase of table time at Beans! Cat Cafe? You already get one drink for free with your table ordinarily, so with an extra, you can bring a plus-one along with you! A cute date gift in exchange for a meet-cute sort of story, courtesy of Beans! Yeah, I like that a lot.

Well, I don't have any stories. I haven't really tried to impress someone I liked.

But I have had fans do strange things to try to impress me. It doesn't really fit with the whole Valentine's Day thing, though.

WEEEEEEEEEEEELL, I guess that'd be okay, then. So long as you're not mean about whatever they did! Remember, this is supposed to be cute and fun.

But a fan once wrote into Shōnen Jump asking me to marry her. I didn't answer that one. I pretended I never got it.

Wow...really? Just like that, a fan of yours wanted to get married to you? And you could tell she was serious about it?

Fans get weirdly passionate about things they like. I guess including manga-ka. I don't really understand it to be honest. The kindest thing I could do at that time was not acknowledge it, I think.

I wouldn't want to encourage that behavior. Since that's what I shared. What did someone do to impress you, then?

Actually...there's something I just remembered recently, because of those Amphoria Pods. Not everything I saw was...you know. That night.

Okay, so I was in the music club at school, you know? And sometimes I'd stay late in the music room to practice. So, that guy figured out the song that I was practicing and then went and learned the piano accompaniment for it, so that he could play along with me sometime.

Art is a great way to bring people together. Music included. I'd ask how successful that was, but you don't need to tell me.

I'd say learning an entire arrangement qualifies as wild. Unless he did poorly, which from what you've said doesn't sound like it.

I mean, it wasn't as good as someone who'd been playing for twenty years could've done it. He picked a simpler arrangement for a reason.

But yeah, I can definitely say it made an impression. At least back then.

Well. In that case - I do have something. My most embarrassing thing is not realizing when someone I like was asking to live with me and just realized it way too late.

I don't think that counts, though.

Yeah...that's not really something you did trying to impress someone else, so it doesn't quite fit the rules of the game...

So what did you come up with, once you realized it?

I'm not trying to get any free drinks.

I would like the idea of it. It's not that I'm lonely, but I do like having her around.

I'd give them to you anyway, game or not.

You know, when I said "come home to you", you didn't have to take it literally...but since you did, I'd like that too. You already sort of had that in mind anyway, right? Because your new place has that spare room you've been letting me use?

I have thought about it for quite awhile. I just... don't like the idea of being without you there.

And you're sure it's going to be okay with Arnold around, too? You know he's well-behaved, but it'll still be a change, to have a dog around all the time...

Of course. I wouldn't invite you if I wasn't okay with him, too. You're a set.

Okay, because he'll take up space and he might want to sleep on your bed and we'll need bowls for his food and water and stuff in the kitchen...

You might have to take him out sometimes, too, you know.

I've thought about this for a long, long time.

I really want it to work out. I want to live with you.

I'm not taking this lightly, and I didn't consider this without thinking of every possible thing. But I still think it will be okay.

So, um...when do you want me to move in? I don't have a lot of stuff to bring, really. And I think a lot of my stuff is already there just by accident.

It's a lot easier now than it used to be, since your new place is bigger than the old one. I don't feel like as much of a hassle when I stay.
