I had never given much thought to sexual intimacy before I arrived here.

[The soft, sonorous thrum of Zenyatta's voice comes drifting across the network like a cloud on the wind, punctuated haphazardly by the faintest of chimes as his orbs circle, unseen. His tone is carefully neutral, curious and undemanding, as he continues.]

When my omnic brothers and sisters liberated ourselves, some among us chose to forsake such human forms of sexual gratification as symbolic of our subservience; our bodies were built for the use of humans, and our ability to feel physical pleasure merely a supplement to human pleasure. To use them as free, sentient beings was to agree that we were little more than shallow imitations of our creators.

I had not considered my own path at all, until now- and, for my ignorance, it is all I can think about for a few days each month!

[Wryly amused for a second there before he continues. If he is being perfectly honest there is one person in particular who is driving him to distraction, but... he hums.]

I believe I would like to try it for myself, under the right circumstances, yet I find myself-- quite unsure. Would any of you be so kind as to share your own first experiences? [brightly:] "Virginity" is merely a social construct, of course, but I am sure each of you has a story you might care to tell!

I don't think my first experience years ago counts as something great for storytelling, unless you're really into stories about getting busy on the cold and dusty floor of a half fallen-in building that didn't have all that much integrity left to it. Which, if you are, then in that case, I have a great story. Minus the part where I should have moved the brick that I was accidentally lying on because that hurt my back, and not in an enjoyable way.

[ Mostly because he's still overwhelmed and delighted by the existence of such a human-like sentient robot. It's... well, he'd love to pick his coding apart, but that's a creepy thing to say to someone. Flesh or otherwise. ]

I... I mean, I'm shocked you, uh, can interface, but I guess if you're in with humanity it makes sense. We're naughty organics that just want to pass on genes.

[ Yeah, he's trying to keep it light, because this is really... uh. Hmm. He does have a daughter he had to raise and the conversations have happened before, but this feels... harder to do. Maybe because his history is not positive, or funny; it's dark and painful and he has yet to work through it.

But he is an honest man, and also seems to infodump when it may not be appropriate. ]

I... mine wasn't... good. It was... I wanted to be loved. And my stepmother offered it to me.

( There's no mistaking that voice when she hears it, immediately closing her eyes to listen to the message and smiling where she sits in the morning sun with her coffee. He'll probably hear Jesse bumbling about the kitchen in the background if he hones in on it. )

I hadn't thought that Omnics would view it as such, but I can certainly see why that would the case. If I may ask, did you mean that they removed the necessary parts, or simply disabled receptors for them? It is... a wonderful way to connect with others and please one another, encompassing comfort and intimacy and affection, relaxation— it's more than just mating or being subservient to others. I'm glad you didn't do anything quite so drastic.

( She knows at least that he's intact, from their cleaning session. )

I think you'll find a lot of us had underwhelming first times, so there may not be terribly much to learn other than "everyone starts somewhere and it is rarely ever meaningful". If there's anything I can help you with or any questions I can answer that aren't seen to here, I hope you'll let me know. But for the sake of transparency...

I spent most of my teenage years nose-deep in my studies, and only really slowed down once I was interning at a hospital in my early 20s, before Overwatch. It was with another medical student, almost a decade older than me, after a particularly amusing anatomy lesson from an ER regular. He was very sweet and I was a bit clumsy— I left a bruise on his forehead from being startled by the sound of the privacy curtain a few cots down opening and slammed my head into his. I nearly darted out without a top on, but he caught me and kept me quiet. Otherwise we would've been found out.

( Ok, she's laughing anyway just retelling it. )

My first time with another woman went much smoother. I have yet to have any experience with an Omnic, likely for the reasons you stated, so I'm afraid I don't have much to offer in that regard. I suppose they largely weren't interested in sleeping around.

[Zenyatta is on the verge of laughter- there's something to be said for humanity's reproductive drive that they cannot invent a companion without also finding a way to have sex with it. But there is a flutter in Hal's tone that stills him, and by the has waited through that hesitation all the mirth in him has dried up.]

[Soft, so soft. There are no words he can offer to ease the hurt he senses, suppressed though it may be, in the man's voice.]

I don't mind. I've talked about it in the middle of a mission before, with someone... in my arms. It just kinda fell out then, though.

[ Deep breath. ]

I just think that people who might not have had a chance to experience being truly loved and safe shouldn't -- I mean, like they should be able to talk about it. Like, this is what I'm worried about with younger people whom are Moonblessed. Does that make sense? Like they'll be pushed into something that they regret because of the effects.

[ No, he went on a tangent. Focus. He can at least give a run-down. ]

Basically... she wasn't happy with my father. I wasn't, either. And she seduced me, and we continued on the affair. And it led to further problems.

Interestin'. Can't say I ever heard of a robot bein'... interfaced for intimacy until now. But I ain't surprised either.

[Like Hal said: humans are a horny bunch. The merc chuckles, albeit somewhat awkwardly.]

Guessin' unclasping bra straps'd be a heck of lot easier with your fingers.

It is for the most part, overrated and often unpleasant. I've never particularly seen the appeal although i realise that I am in the minority here.

Could you tell me though, what is an Omnic?

[oh no he's already chuckling]

[ She replies with a short breath of laughter. ] No, it was during a short reprieve. [ Of, you know, Western forces and their allies deciding Sokovia was a great place to litter with bombs. ]

My most recent sexual experiences back home were way better. I was part of this..team, and one of the other members, an android, and I were getting close -- in several meanings of the term. So, first time's not always the best time.

[ It rarely is. ]

For most the changes are simply a matter of disabling the appropriate equipment. One must remember, however, that as omnics there are ways of achieving that kind of intimacy that do not involve lovemaking in the human sense of the word- interfacing, for instance, through a shared network or connector plugs. [He chuckles.] Have you ever connected your nervous system to that of your lover to experience their every thought and sensation?

[a beat.]

I have not either. In time, perhaps... but I digress. [If he keeps talking he'll miss her story!

Which, as it turns out, is utterly charming- the chuckle becomes a laugh before she has even finished, caught instantly from Angela.]

Privacy curtains? You were on the ward! [He tuts playfully, adopting a chiding tone.] My, Dr. Ziegler! You were quite the wild child!

Now there is a refreshing perspective. [Meant sincerely!] I must admit, there are certain aspects of it that even I cannot help but find unappealing.

But, to answer your question, an omnic is a robot controlled by a sentient AI.

I know several people who would disagree about it being refreshing. But then it's something that's seen as very natural. Almost core to being human. Or at least that's what the media seems to believe.

Interesting. I don't think we have anything like that were I'm from. Not that advanced anyway.

[He remembers Tessa, and her chatbot. He'll never be able to forget Tessa and her chatbot.]

[It is still so good to hear Engineer's voice in its usual sleepy cadence after their last meeting, moondrunk or not; he'll probably hear Zenyatta's playful warmth in spades as he answers.]

You had not heard of sentient robots at all until you met me, either! We are full of surprises. [He hums.] I must admit, I have never tried. But then, I have never had cause to wear one.

[is he teasing? is he sincere? nobody knows.....]

This monk practices celibacy so he has no stories to give.

But let me ask that other face...

First? First... ah, that would be, that time, ah? Yes... being degraded constantly... being treated so poorly... ah, the Kou was really quite awful... always so mean to me... yet that is what I loved most about him! That is what I love most about him! All my memories are stained red and vicious and filled with such agony...

Ah! To go back to those times... would be lovely... it would be lovely... social construct... yes, it is... it's just that... the first time I laid eyes upon him... when I heard his voice calling out... I knew I would love and follow him forever. I knew that... and so anything that happened afterward was due to that devotion... ah, how nice...

[ A calm voice returns. ]

I am! An omnic is a robot imbued with a sentient AI. I take it they are not common in your world?

[There is something else in her answer, Zenyatta realises, something more to that little laugh- but he does not chase it, for now.

Instead, he claps his hands together in delight.]

How romantic! My world has yet to truly accept relationships between humans and machines- it is reassuring, to know that my hope is not a foolish one. They are not here?

Humans ... need laxatives for the sticks up their ass a lot of the time, honestly. [ Humans can be dumb. She knows. She is one. ] He's not here, though, no. I'm one of the only ones from my exact universe here, at least for now.

Not in the way you're describing. My galaxy uses droids instead, which are generally intelligent enough but whether or not they're sentient is, ah, up for debate. Many aren't programmed with such rigorous AI in the first place.

Perhaps only half of them have a humanoid shape. [He pauses briefly and adds,] I haven't heard of any droid being built with sexual functionality, but I suppose it's possible.

Robots having sex is... not quite a dilemma I'd imagine hearing about today.

[Sorry, Zen, if he sounds quite a bit amused by the idea. He's still getting used to the idea of robots having personalities at all.

Still, hearing about 'liberation' is somewhat intriguing. So he'll answer honestly.]

My first time was nothing special. I was 17, she was 16, we'd drank too much stolen vodka, and neither of us had any idea what we were doing. It wasn't unpleasant by any means, though.

The key is, honestly, communication. Knowing what you and your partner of choice want out of it. It's more fun that way.

[Engineer meant it when he said he wasn't a good person, but he'd like to at least say he CHOSE to be morally questionable, and not half-cocked and psychotic off an alien moon.]

[Says Engie, who's somewhat avoiding talking about his own experiences.

The joke gets him snorting, though, in one big wheezy laugh.]

In a first-time-jitters sorta way.

I'm not sure if it makes you feel... More secure about it, but I do know of a robot who was capable of... Sexual pleasure. He was a bit explicit about it, though.

[ Matt chuckles quietly, and the casual shrug is almost audible in his tone. ]

As for me... It's nothing... Particularly special or romantic like I'd hoped but... I'd had a crush for a while, and you know how it is, you... Make up whatever excuse you can!

So, when the cutest boy in your grade invites you to his birthday party, you don't just say no! And, far be it from me to decline seven minutes in heaven! How was I supposed to know the cake wasn't going to stay down when I did!?

[ ... A moment, and then he clears his throat. ]

Needless to say, my parents were called, and I wasn't allowed back.

[ Another awkward pause. ]

The first full time went quite a bit better, of course!
