The opening of the museum here is enormously exciting, but it also has me thinking about museums at home.

I know there are exhibits about me in at least a few museums - I've never been to see one, because it feels vaguely egotistical to attend an exhibit about yourself? But I've always wondered what sort of things they have to say about me. What parts of my life are worth putting on display for the public.

If there were a museum dedicated to you, what do you suppose would be on exhibit?

I've heard they do have some kind of shrine for me or something in one of the other countries.

Frankly, the while thing gives me the creeps.

A shrine would be more than a little uncomfortable... Thankfully, I'm only a writer and not someone anyone would deify like that.

You sure about that? You know, some authors get some pretty extreme fans.

Well, at least we can be pretty sure we don't have anything like that in this world.

Probably.

It's nice to be somewhere not everyone automatically knows your name.

That's for sure.

I guess it probably depends on what you're known for, though.

In my case it's my writing... although I still don't think my works are anything special.

I'm a 'Hero'. The job title, not the ego trip. The nutshell version is that world summons people from other worlds, gives them powers and sends them off to fight monsters.

I can see why that would garner a certain degree of reverence, yes.

[resenting]

Try resentment. They had this whole idiotic religion built up around the summoned heros, and I was 'lucky' enough to get dragged to the country that hated my guts before I even got there.

One person's saviour is another person's demon, but if they were going to play that game they should have just left me the hell out of it.

I'm so sorry. Fighting monsters is difficult enough even without the politics and baggage.

You get it, then.

That church got put in it's place before I came here, so things should be a little better when I go back.

So I guess to really answer your question, it completely depends on who's running the museum, doesn't it?

It certainly does. Though I'd like to hope most critics don't run museums of the objects of their distaste.

Yeah, it would take a real specific type of person to make a 'hate museum'. Of course, if that type of person was able to, you know 100% that they would.

If they have the money to do that and don't have anything better to do with their lives? More power to them.

I can think of a few things I'd rather they do with their lives.

I can too, but it's not really my place to tell other people what to do...

Depends on who those people are, and how willing you are to make it your place, I guess.

I've been accused of being a doormat before.

Be careful out there. Lot of people out there jump at the chance to take advantage of people like that.
