The opening of the museum here is enormously exciting, but it also has me thinking about museums at home.

I know there are exhibits about me in at least a few museums - I've never been to see one, because it feels vaguely egotistical to attend an exhibit about yourself? But I've always wondered what sort of things they have to say about me. What parts of my life are worth putting on display for the public.

If there were a museum dedicated to you, what do you suppose would be on exhibit?

Well, the two lovers I left back home happen to be a Roman emperor and a famous Japanese courtesan, so... well, they've got certain tastes, as I said.

Do you know how, um, 'in depth' the museum information on you is?

You have my sympathies.

I assume it focuses more on my writing, but I don't know... My personal life isn't very interesting.

I never spent much time in school, relatively speaking, but even I know how detailed literature analysis can be, when it comes to sussing out the author's motives or guiding influences.

But, I've never been to too many museums, either. It could be that's more of a university thing...

I think my works are usually taught prior to university? But it depends on which teacher you have how much they focus on ferretting out meaning from context.

I do think teachers can take that too far, sometimes. Assuming things about an author's state of mind from their work.

Lackadaisical, I suppose you could call her. We didn't study many novels.

Did you enjoy her class?

I enjoyed her. And class in general. It was a nice, peaceful time.

Then that's what's important, I think. Not so much what specific books you study, but whether your class learns to enjoy the act of reading and learning.

As somebody who's an actual teacher teaching kids how to read these days, I have to agree.

Oh, you're a teacher as well? It's rewarding work - I'm glad I was able to take it up again in Lunatia.

Preschool, technically, but yes. I missed my daughter, so I decided to try working with children while I was here.

Preschool teachers are just as valuable as any other kind. I've never worked with children as young as that, though, I'm not sure I have the skills for it.
