The opening of the museum here is enormously exciting, but it also has me thinking about museums at home.

I know there are exhibits about me in at least a few museums - I've never been to see one, because it feels vaguely egotistical to attend an exhibit about yourself? But I've always wondered what sort of things they have to say about me. What parts of my life are worth putting on display for the public.

If there were a museum dedicated to you, what do you suppose would be on exhibit?

A museum based on me would likely be dedicated to manga. Or just as an artist, in general. Though a museum with artwork isn't particularly unique.

It's not, but I still find art museums enjoyable to visit. Especially exhibits centered on artists or movements I'm not familiar with.

Is that so? I enjoy art museums, as well. I've sometimes traveled just to see them. So, I'd quite like it even if it's not a unique idea.

What does your museum feature?

I don't have a museum of my own, just exhibits at places like the Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature or the Saitama Museum of Literature. But I believe they focus on my short stories, possibly with notes about my stay in Micronesia as context?

Ah. You're an author, then. I've visited the Saitama Museum of Literature. That's pretty exciting.

You have the advantage over me there. Is any of your work available in Lunatia?

[penpoint]

I managed to obtain much of my work from home. And I'm working on some short stories for here, as well. I find that to be something that would work well here.

So I don't have to commit to a long format, and people can get the full story in a single sitting.

Happy to help. It's amazing how much easier it is to publish something these days than it was during my lifetime.

Is it? When I'm from, it's all still pretty traditional publishing.

Do they have the internet in your time?

Yeah, it was 1999. But the resources here are more.

Back when I was alive, the idea of self-publishing would be laughable if you weren't already wealthy. Not to mention how the internet's made stories from around the world much more accessible to everyone.

That's true, and it's not impossible in my time. Just...here, they're more inclined to set you free to do it. I could have digital work, but I like to hold a physical book.

There's nothing like a brand new book, though I admit I'm biased. I'm not sure how I would be transmigrated from an e-book.

[Those sound like they would be harder to turn into swords?]

Somehow it being an e-book makes it sound way more science fiction. You know, as if that it happens at all is a typical occurence.

Right now it just sounds like fantasy. Spirits of authors summoned from their books, whose books turn into their weapons to fight monsters that are devouring literature...

If I hadn't experienced it myself, I'm not sure I'd believe it.

I'm not sure I would, either. And, even if for some reason I thought you weren't telling me the truth, it's interesting enough that I don't really care.

Does anyone really have motivation to lie about their home lives here? Aside from the obvious 'you were a bad person at home', that doesn't count.

Sure, if there's something they don't want people to know, I suppose. Even here.
