I can say with confidence that I'm not attracted to men. I'm just bad at romance and the like.

[The mention of soulmates cuts him a little deep, and while she can't see it he placed a hand on the katana he keeps with him at all times.]

I do, but finding someone like that is probably impossible for me now. [He pauses.] She died eight years ago, and she took my heart and soul with her. Maybe that's why I'm so bad at love. [Well, it's part of it.]

I see your problem. (And oh how she knows that grief. Daenerys hadn't allowed herself to be completely closed off. That's how she was able to fall in love with Jon.)

You're not bad at it; you are grieving. Grief doesn't have a set time limit. (And even when it is overcome - to some degree - it can sometimes return to haunt the person.) Holding hands with another will serve you just as well and it won't put a strain on your heart or your mind.

[But it's not that simple for him, just as his relationship with soulmate. When she was gone more than just his soul went with her, it was his entire life, his reason. He should have died that day as well, but even in death he'll never see her again.]

I certainly hope that I can do that again one day.

I have two hands. (If he needs to replenish Chroma.) I am grieving too - for a husband and three sons. I think perhaps he was my soulmate.

[She's lost a lot too, just as him. He knows the pain she's feeling, it catches you when you're off guard but always present. Like a dull ache followed by a sharp sudden cut. It's enough to give pause or drop someone to their knees and makes even the strongest person seem fragile.]

Then it looks like life hasn't been very kind to either of us.

[He sighs while pondering if he should accept her subtle offer to Moonlace. On one hand, it might be nice to connect with someone who understands his loss even if just a bit, on the other he doesn't feel like licking wounds would be healthy for him at the moment. It would be terribly rude to turn it down though.]
