Have made a point not to get too influenced by the moon cycles. Hard to tell what's you and what's... something else.

[And autonomy is the most important thing to Rey, always.]

[Rey almost says that a little too soon, because she has to think about it now.]

Well, yes and no. Guess it's mostly no. It's not by choice. Didn't have a whole lot of time for that stuff, before. Was never really meant for... [Uh nope, stopping herself right there. Pause.] Just... no time. But, there's lots of time now. Needed that time to sort things out.

(It really is a shame she can't see her face. Daenerys is quiet for a moment and then she hums.)

It took me awhile to grow accustomed to it. For something supposedly "natural", it feels...complicated.

(Especially if your partner isn't patient.)

[She takes those words in stride. There have been only a few people Rey has spoken to about this. If it helps, in a way, she hasn't figured it out yet.]

Don't know. There was... someone, before here. But things were also complicated with her.

(Feelings are dangerous. They lead to caring and attachment. Daenerys will be pleased as long as they don't lead to more stab wounds.)

[ Valmont quite agrees with this assessment. Feelings are unnecessary at best, an active hindrance at worst. He's been entirely happy avoiding them until now, thank you... and yet. And yet. ]

I tend to find myself attracted to people who are strong, confident, intelligent, open-minded, interesting, and pretty.

[ His voice softens. It would be a lie to say that word choice hadn't sparked a brief, unpleasant flashback, but... ]

[ And, true to his word for once in his life, he is. Even allowing for travel time, it's not long at all before Daenerys' doorbell rings. Apparently Valmont's in a bit of a hurry to see her. Wonder why. ]

I've never given into my moon cycle, but I'm not sure if the Cordis moon really counts. It's more of building pressure than a growing urge so it's been pretty easy for me. [Well outside of the fact Chroma burns two times faster during that cycle.]

But my other reasoning for it is if I do end up with a partner, I'd want it to be sincere. Not born of some pressure or need, it feels.....wrong to me.

(The door isn't barring his way for long. Daenerys opens it and immediately reaches for his arm, tugging him inside.)

That would've been awkward if you ended up at someone else's doorstep.

(Okay so her attempt at levity is poor. But she offers him a glass of wine to make up for it?)

I'm blessed with Sanguis and that moon has given me urges I have not expressed with anyone. (Because, yes, she would have regrets then. Grave regrets.)

What if the urges are backed with sincerity? My partners have never meant nothing to me.

Funny thing about that, actually. When I find a new partner under Iris's influence, it's almost always someone I've found and talked with already. Maybe we've only spoken a couple times, but I at least know their name and who they are. Never hopped into bed with a stranger even when my bunny instincts are going wild.

[Heh. "Hopped".]

Course, I've got a pretty wide swath of people I consider friends, so that's not as narrow a field as it might sound. And... somehow I've become really okay with that. As long as they're okay with what's happening, relaxed, and can have a sense of humor about the whole thing, we're good. The last one's important because, let's face it, this whole thing is a little ridiculous.
