[It's Atsushi! Without his glasses, and with his hair pushed back, and looking 95% more grumpy than anyone has seen the 'usual' Atsushi, but it's definitely him.]

My other half told me that I need to make more friends. [Speech patterns are definitely Inner's, but it may come as a shock to anyone who hasn't met him yet.] I don't care, but if it'll satisfy him I'll ask.

People willing to be sparring partners preferred. No one too noisy or annoying. If the other Atsushis don't like you then I hate you already, so don't bother replying.

[Holding onto his sheath was fine, why pull it out? He just put more pressure into it trying to push Atsushi with down force and an attempt to sweep his feet out.]

[Atsushi pushes back with as much force, but has to stagger back a step to avoid his legs being swept out from under him.

Also he plays dirty so that's definitely an attempt to kick Wei in the balls. They did establish it was an anything fight.]

[He lets go of his sheath to use both his hands to block the kick, though he saves his groin he is knocked back. He was running out of time so he went for one last hurrah.

As he fell backward he controlled his sword up and went for the kill. In a flash of light and speed, it aimed downward from above.]

[The sword comes down on Atsushi's head. If he'd been aiming to kill him, that would have been the end right there.]

I yield.

[He's not happy about it. Surprising to no one, he's a sore loser.]

[And immediately his sword fell over with a dull clang and he slumped over with and exausted gasp.]

I said... not to underestimate... your opponent.

[Despite clearly not being in any good shape, his spiritual power was pretty much depleted now, he was grinning.]

[Now Atsushi is even more sore about it, since he's not nearly as exhausted and could've kept going if Wei hadn't gotten the upper hand.]

What's a cultivator?

Since the fight is over, Atsushi's sword returns to book form, and Atsushi tucks it away in a satchel.]

[Wei Wuxian slowly gathered Suibian and puts it back in its sheath, all light from it is gone for the moment and is no more than a common sword.]

A cultivator is one who cultivates spiritual power, at some point you can even become immortal and wield amazing abilities. Supposedly one can potentially ascend to the heavens with enough cultivation. I've never heard of anyone doing that though.

We do, but, they're quite different. Not so solid. Though, I suppose, still something you tend to fight.

[Fairies for him were beings that cultivated from an item to become humanoid and have powers.]

That really is interesting! Ink turned into a body and held together through spell work.

[Atsushi blinks a few times, then fumbles around in his pockets for his glasses to put them on. When he speaks, his tone and speech patterns have entirely changed.]

I, ah, hope he wasn't too rude to you, he can be a bit brusque...

Oh - thank you. [Light pink dusts Atsushi's cheeks at the compliment.] Really, I don't think I'm all that interesting, but as long as he's making friends I'm happy.

We're spirits summoned to protect literature. Where I'm from, there are monsters eating stories, and normal humans can't go inside books to fight them, so...

[This is definitely the Atsushi who's better for explanations.]

Protect literature?

[At first glance one might think Wei Wuxian was one who was all for fighting, however, he was a scholar in his own right. Literature was an interest of his as well as research and learning. The idea of a world where literature was an actual world that needed to be defended from monsters was fascinating.]

So, almost like a familiar of some sort? Perhaps you are closer to what my sword is than I thought. Are you just summoned and told to do something, or, are you tied to anyone?

I was transmigrated at a library and I'm an unofficial employee, if that counts as being tied to someone...? But they're not actively providing my anchor here after the summoning.
