[the video starts with someone (in a lot of green) too close to the screen. just the bottom half of his face is visible and his mouth moves as he mumbles something to himself. eventually, he leans back. some of you might recognize him as the Green Man who introduces himself as Robin. after a moment, he lifts his hand in a greeting.]
Hey there, folks. [that same hand rubs at the back of his neck.]
I'll make this short and sweet. [the recording turns around and focuses on a couple of these guys, brightly colored and lazily swimming around in a large fishing bowl on a windowsill. one headbutts the side of the bowl gently.
there's a sigh.]
Anybody in the market for a couple of rainbow fish? I don't want anything for 'em other than getting the responsibility out of my hands. Don't really care what you do with them, either.
[but he's out here
looking for a home for them.]
It'll be first-come, first-serve. Early bird gets the worm and all that... or fish, in this case.

[ The background looks like someone's apartment at least. Ayer's going to assume it's this guy's place. Now considering the fishes are settled at home, inside a particularly nice fishing bowl, it's safe to say they are pets. ]
!!!!!! hi
[not THIS Robin's.]
Are you responding because you want them? Serious inquiries only. I guess I should've said that in the first place. Oh well.
hello o///o
[ Listen, Ayer's a little weirded out at the thought of someone giving away their pets. Why take a pet if you can't care for it, right? But he knows it's not his business to pry, so he doesn't say anything else about that.
But then, the guy denies these fish being his pets⦠Really? It doesn't feel that way to Ayer. The fish look well-cared for⦠]
Just making sure. Most people don't give away things without something in exchange.
Are all of them accounted for by now?
it's been so LOOOONG
idiot? hahaaaah, this guy. THIS GUY. snark: max.]
That so? I couldn't tell and thought you were making a joke since you were asking questions that have already been answered.
[his point about people giving away things for free isn't common is true, though.]
I'm getting a responsibility-free life in exchange, k? Dunno about the accounting, I'm not keeping track. It's first-come, first-serve. Jeez, you should get your head looked at if you're having trouble remembering stuff.
[says the guy who literally had his MEMORY WIPED.]
I AM HERE FOR YOU
You know what, if you think talking to people is a pain, you could've left it as an ad with your contact details.
[ This guy is making it so hard to converse! And Ayer thought he's shit at socializing. ]
Anyway, I wasn't asking about that! I was asking if someone already took them all.
But I have my answer now that new replies came in.
[ In that case, they're done here, especially since this guy doesn't seem to want to talk at all. Ayer will do him a favor, then. After this reply, he's leaving him alone. ]
Congrats on finding them new owners.
β₯ !!! ilu
Yeah, I could've.
[PAIN IN THE ASS. he's not leaving it at that, for whatever reason. probably because he was called an idiot.]
Alright, stranger, I've got one for you: Why'd you come and respond if you didn't want them?
i love you more β€π
I was just curious!
[ Well, it's not a lie. But that's not the complete truth either. Ayer's soft towards animals, so he would've done something about it if no one else offered. But he's not saying any of that. ]
I've never seen fish like that before either.
impossibru
honestly, Robin is surprised the conversation is still going as well. maybe he was curious, too!]
Then if you're curious, I can't help you. I have no idea where they came from, their species, or if they're poisonous. All I know is they like blowing bubbles at each other and they start eating the decorations in the bowl if they're hungry.
no subject
They sound entertaining.
Why don't you take a video of them before they leave?
[ As for eating decorations, that isn't uncommon. Living beings will eat almost anything for food if they're desperate to survive. ]
no subject
[yet Robin glances at the fishbowl. they're doing it right now, actually.
he didn't think it entertaining but random. kinda strange? what fish do that? none he knows.
all of a sudden, the video is back up and he's recording the two fish doing exactly as he described. shooting bubbles at each other and a voice in the background:]
There. Happy?
no subject
Why not, right? The man took the trouble to find the fish new homes instead of abandoning them somewhere, so a little memory of them isn't bad. ]
They're so harmless compared to the fish from my world.
no subject
what is being said now is curious. he keeps the camera on the fish but the silence is telling.]
... Yeah?
[an unsaid prompt for more but also one wherein he doesn't have to answer at all.]
no subject
There's modest-sized fish too, but it's not uncommon to encounter large species.
I've caught one before that's bigger than me.
no subject
so he answered. probably because he's got a live feed of rainbow fish going, spitting bubbles at each other. Robin needs to get his entertainment somewhere, too.]
What? Man, fishing is supposed to be relaxing not a pain in the ass. Catching a fish bigger than a person sounds like a lot of effort.
no subject
Also, this man's broadcast could pass for a live ASMR aquarium. ]
So it's relaxing in other worlds.
Fishermen from my world risk their lives to fish. Many of them are strong because of their experiences out at sea.
no subject
don't put on headphones, Ayer.]
Uhuh. If they're reeling in fish that are as big as a human being on a daily basis, then I guess you'd have to be strong. [at this point, Robin has just set up his camera in front of the bowl as he replies with each new message he gets.]
It's relaxing if you're doing it as a hobby. Not so much when you're doing it to survive. Whether as a job or 'cause you're hungry.
