video | un: springtime
[the video shows a white rabbit wearing a sunhat with holes that her long ears slip easily into. she's got a bit of dirt smudged on her face, and in the background is a wooden exterior of a shed. there are some saplings behind her too.]
You know, if I was born a large carnivore instead of a small herbivore, I think I'd have started up some kind of brothel here...probably would have made good money in a place like this.
[that. sure is a way to get attention!]
Anyway, I'm only a small carnivore here some of the time, and there already seem to be plenty of those kinds of places. Ever since I arrived here and when the weather started getting nicer, I noticed that we were missing something...
[Haru swaps the camera to face forward, and pans a bit, showing off a relatively sparse, fenced-in lot with a good amount of raised plots of soil and flower beds already started. after a moment of showing off, she switches it back to herself.]
So! I've started up a community garden for...mostly myself honestly, but it's open for anyone else to sign up and use. I was setting up all day yesterday, and it's kind of been slow going. In highschool I managed the gardening club all on my own so I can do this by myself, but if anyone wants to stop by and help I'll treat you to some lunch! I know it's Sanguis right now, so plenty of you are stronger than usual... [she brings her free hand up to rub under her nose, smudging more dirt on her face as she mumbles:] you could probably put that to good use.
Anyway, feel free to stop by, even if it's just to sign up for your own plot of land. If nobody signs up then it's not too bad...it just means more space for me to grow my babies.
[attached to this post is the address, where the community garden is located on a once-vacant lot in Lunatia, Level 2. a sign up sheet is posted on the front door of the shed, and anyone is free to stop by and do their own thing at the gardens for the month of May.]

What's a tannery?

Do you have leather goods in your world?
no subject
[she gives him a bit of a sheepish look.]
Maybe in the Back Alley Market, but in regular society that sort of thing is illegal. Where I come from, everyone's an animal like me.

I spoke out of turn. My apologies. I was thinking of the analogy, nothing more than . . . in any case.
[Maybe? She doesn't seem offended, but on the other hand, it's probably shitty to talk about leather goods and tanneries to an animal, so.]
We have no sentient animals in my world. But a few different-- ah, I don't know the term. Humans, elves, qunari . . . all walk on two legs, all are somewhat humanoid.
/casually forgot that i switched haru to voice for this thread WOOPSIE
It wasn't out of turn, it probably makes sense where you're from. I know in other worlds animals aren't like me, so eating meat isn't taboo. I've gotten used to how freely people can eat meat around here.
It doesn't bother me.
[she kind of just waves it away.]
I've never heard about elves or qunari. Humans as a species don't exist where I'm from but they seem pretty common around here. Would they be...different breeds then?
it's fine i return AGES later so we're both doing great
[Actually, hang on: he'll just offer a quick drawing. It's easier than explaining.]
Typically they're at least a head taller than elves and humans, with horns. Their skin is grey, their hair typically white. Their name comes from the teachings they follow: the Qun, which guides their lifestyle.
[He likes the Quanari. He has mixed feelings regarding himself and them, but he does like them. The Qun makes sense.]
Elves and humans are more similar, but not entirely. Elves' ears are long and pointed, and typically we're taller and more slender.
[A beat, and he clears his throat, a little embarrassed at the tangent. He's been gesturing with his hands the entire time, his gaze down; it's an old, bad habit to keep his head down.]
we're doing amazing, sweetie
Huh, that's pretty cool. Do the females have horns too, like some sheep do, or is it just males?
[a perfectly valid question!! even if she's a rabbit and horns mean little to her than if she were, say, a sheep or a deer.
the way he carries himself on camera...she's wondering if he's just shy or nervous and just chalks it up to that.]
Where I'm from our society is made up of all sorts of species of animals. I was getting the impression that most humans come from places where they're the only species, or they're with similar-bodied species like...hm...a society made up of all canines.

[But ah--]
I believe you are correct. Or at least: what few humans I've spoken to here have a tendency to gawk at my ears. And their idea of elves is . . . ill-informed, let us say. Visions of over-idealized creatures that only exist in fairy tales.
no subject
[I mean...talking rabbit. Big rabbit ears.
...do elf ears wiggle though? As far as she can tell humans don't really have that kind of control or those kind of ears that can be moved.]
Have you seen any of those kinds of elves? Because I know the kinds of rabbits most humans are used to are here.
They're not really fantastical, though.
no subject
No offense taken. How could I? But no, I haven't met such elves. It's likely for the best. I am not--
There are others better suited for acting ambassador.
[He imagine he knows what kinds of rabbits Haru has encountered, frankly. He's actively trying not to think about the comparison, if only because it's . . . hm, odd? To meet an actual rabbit? Like, it's just easier to think of her as a particularly weird looking person who happens to be a rabbit, rather than an ultra-evolved version of the little things Fenris knows.
It's a fine distinction. He's doing his best.]
no subject
Which...one of her ear does; a thoughtful wiggle.]
I'm not the best representative of my species either, but I think a lot of us here are odd ones out. [She's a bit of a loner, which is strange for a rabbit, and she decided to live freely instead of out of fear.
Plus, her penchant for interspecies relationships...but that's neither here nor there.] It's weird to think of yourself as an ambassador in a place like this.
