Bonjour, everyone.

This post will be much more light-hearted than my last one. While looking for things to keep me occupied during Sanguis so as to not disturb others, I happened across this book in the “digital library.”




It’s a gripping tale of a Prismal girl and her horse seeking freedom in a world that would hope to suppress them. I don’t want to spoil it, but I did notice that it seems to be a part of a series. If anyone knows where I might find physical copies of the rest of them, please let me know.

Incidentally, it has inspired me to ride again. Where can I find a stable? Or horses, for that matter? I was in the equestrian club in school, so I assure you I am no amateur.

That’s incredible! We don’t even have dragons in my world, so you must understand my awe at the concept of wrangling one.

Well, hatching and raising. Though I have wrangled other animals in the past.

I know most worlds don't have dragons, though, so I'm not surprised.

That’s even more amazing, in my opinion. I’m no good at breeding horses, after all. I just enjoy riding them.

Are they terrible difficult to raise?

Well... Skyscales were an odd case. Most of the time what I do is find adolescent creatures that are old enough to be away from their parent, but young enough that they can be trained.

But Skyscales were brought to Tyria through a rift. You see there is another plane of existence connected to Tyria called the Mists. The Mists can be described as a place where "no time and all time passes at once". Fragments from Tyria's past can be found there, different realms such as the Domain of the Lost reside there and while not all souls go forth after passing there, particularly heroic ones can continue existing within.

Unfortunately somewhat recently we started experiencing rifts, tears through time due to the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik. I actually wound up chasing Kralkatorrik through the Mists and apparently when we broke through back to Tyria we wound up bringing these miraculous eggs with us! I didn't find out until later but a friend of mine, Gorrik, made the discovery and had to scramble to secure them. He found out after they hatched that they were experiencing a sort of rapid but fatal growth so I wound up having to run all over looking for ingredients for a solution for it. It was a lot of work!

To say nothing of when I had to go chasing after her because she escaped and went galavanting all over just for fun!

[ serge can only barely follow her explanation, though he appreciates her taking the time to lay it out for him. at least the experience of having an animal break loose just to cause some playful chaos is a universal one.

Then it seems to me they’re lucky to have met you, even if the circumstances have been harrowing.

[It's wordy, has a lot of terminology exclusive to Tyria and doesn't lend itself well to a more trunciated explanation but it's still better than the mess of Asura jargon Gorrik would have dropped on the poor guy.]

I'd like to think so too. I love her dearly and I'm grateful that I was able to regain her as a companion here.

I’m so very jealous! I’ve never had a horse of my own. My estate wasn’t equipped for them, and my school obviously wouldn’t allow me to keep one.

The connection you have must be incredible.

It's very strong, yes. I have a good connection with all of my companions but I think Kleio and I are absolutely the strongest.

If you ever want to go for a flight with me I'm absolutely willing to give one.

I would, of course! I must say, however, I’m a little frightened. I’ve never flown before.

I'm really good at it! Besides, I'd be the one controlling her anyway, so there's nothing to worry about!

[She won't mention that her first time on her Raptor mount she actually crashed into a wall hard enough to gain a concussion, but in her defense that was almost three years ago now!

She's gotten much better with them.]

Not at all! I'm rarely busy with anything here so I would love to do something to break up the monotony.
