When you're hungry, you eat. To refrain from doing so would make the sensation worse, and result in a negative impact on your physical health. [He knows what Robotnik's going through right now has nothing to do with hunger. Or at least not for food, at any rate.] Iris heats are similar enough to compare. Neglecting a biological imperative will negatively affect your physical and mental state.
