004 » Video; UN: Persephone

[ This is something Persephone probably should have done a few months ago.

There is a very pink young woman on the screen. She gives a sheepish little wave as she smiles.

] Hello, my name is Persephone and I'm the Goddess of Spring back home. Yes, I'm an actual goddess, it's not just a title. Yes, I am as pink as I appear, I'm not sunburned. [ Her gaze drifts away from the camera as ticks off things that have been brought up to her. Her tone is cheerful. ] And yes, for the humans from various different versions of Earth, I am the Persephone of Greek Myth. But the stories you know are wrong...to an extent. If you have any questions pertaining to that I'll do my best to answer them.

Also, you don't have to treat me special or anything just because I'm a goddess! I'm really normal aside from the fact I randomly grow flowers in my hair sometimes. [ It's really not that random. ]

A-anywho! I'm making this post for a reason beyond that. One, I'm curious if there are any other deities from other worlds here. I've met one and spoke with another, though I believe she's gone now. If you are a deity I'm curious how being here has affected your abilities. I-if you wish to share, that is!

For anyone else, I'd like to hear about the gods of your world. If you have them.

Thanks!

Aside from goddesshood.

[That could include... a lot of things.]

Is that how you would describe the rest of the gods in your world? Are they also "not that different" from mortals?

[That's not exactly a shock to hear. There are definitely some gods back home who view mortals as a resource at best and as prey to be hunted at worst. The only thing stopping gods like that is other gods.]

The closest thing we have to a goddess of spring where I come from is the god of the weather and nature. I'm not much of a religious scholar, but I believe they spend most of their time blowing around the world in the form of waves or storms.

[Sure Gozreh can take a human-like form, but Lilias doubts the twofold god/goddess spends much time that way.]

I have a hard time imagining them living in a city.

Yeah, I could see how that might get annoying.

[Like a wrongly recorded "history" being spread around. At least he doesn't have to deal with it... yet.]

It depends, but humans usually leave offerings at shrines and pray to the gods. Usually for peace, prosperity and fortune.

Hm... As long as the people prayed to Heavens, it didn't matter.

But since you know how your temples look like, does that mean that you visited them?
demonicbookworm: (yes?)

[personal profile] demonicbookworm 2020-06-08 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
So visiting them is not something every god can do?

Ah... I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions.
demonicbookworm: (awkward smile)

Oh, I see.

So do gods of your world actually talk to humans? In mine, they very rarely did that. I know that the grim reaper Thanatos did, but that's about it.
demonicbookworm: nobody listens to me... (siiiiiiigh)

[personal profile] demonicbookworm 2020-06-08 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... I'm sorry to hear that.

Well, all gods have servants. I imagine Gozreh has elemental creatures and animals to do their bidding, for things that don't require a personal touch.

[Work in... shifts? Like a job? Do... do gods from Earth get to clock out and go home at the end of the day??]

What would they be doing if not that? Actually, what does the goddess of springtime do once spring is over?
demonicbookworm: and now I'm curious (hm?)

[personal profile] demonicbookworm 2020-06-08 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
...Is being a goddess difficult? Did you have some tasks or jobs to do?

Hmm.

[Yeah, that sounds like... normal Young Person stuff. Pretty normal person stuff in general, honestly.]

I see what you mean. A few of the gods from my world used to be mortals, but I don't think most of the gods ever had "childhoods" in the human sense. Or if they did, it was so long ago that no one could possibly remember.
