I understand that there are some among us who have died back in whatever world they may have come from.

As a point of morbid curiosity, what are we supposing happens to those like that when they're removed from this world? Do they simply cease to exist?

From my experience, the worse the death, the more it leaves lingering effects on a spirit.

Asthmatic heart failure, age 33. Not pleasant, but it could be worse.

My condolences, regardless. That's such a young age.

I was always sickly, so I never had the illusion I would live a long life. I've come to terms with it.

Fair enough. And it does come for everyone eventually. Some just face it sooner than others.

I know some of us in the library are morbid enough to compete over who had the worst death, if there wasn't already a clear 'winner'.

Writers are just like that sometimes.

A good amount of people can be, if they're in the right mood for it; morbid senses of humor tended to run high among the last group of people I was affiliated with.

What sort of crowd did you run with, if I may ask?

The politest way to put it is "they were already concretely preparing for the end of days."
