Video 001 | Lancer of Black

[Now that the nasty business of Moonblessings and transformations are done, Lancer's ready to talk more publicly. So he appears on video to ask this question rather than texting this evening. The pale, dark eyed man greets the camera with a glass of dark red wine and a desire for distractions.]

This place, or the moons above, seem hell bent on drawing out compulsions we never even had.

[Not going to think on that too hard. Lancer just finishes the glass of red wine he's holding.]

Please humor me if you are not from this world and tell me what you used to indulge in back home. Are you still drawn to it here? Can it even be found here?

Do the moons increase that for you or has it all changed now?

[A lot of questions but he really doesn't plan to investigate this too much. He just wants to hear what other people do for fun.]

Well, I mostly indulged in plants or baking. I get to do a lot more of both here.

I like reading. [Which is evidenced by the wall of Lunar Scientia bookshelves that make up the backdrop behind him in the feed.]

Honestly? It's gotta be sleeping and food. There's way more options here with the latter than I ever could've gotten my hands on back where I came from before, and uh... With the moons? Definitely.

I... may or may not have blown a ton of chroma on food during the second go-around.

I have a lot of issues with sex and intimacy. Iris makes me able to let go. I don't think I would be able to without it, not as freely as I do.

Back home, I mostly swam and read with my free time. I'm not sure that counts as indulging, unless you count staying out way past my bedtime to get more time in the ocean.

Here, well... I still do both, but I also spend a lot of time generating Chroma.

[In many, many ways.]

I see you found an abundance of things to indulge that here.

[Don't mind Lancer as he squints at your bookshelf.]

Is your taste in fiction or non fiction?

I must admit that I am not beyond gluttonous ways. I am sure the Chroma was well spent.

[Lancer needs Chroma to even exist but he's a special case and won't fault others for being less frugal.]

Is it a sweet tooth that overtakes you or will any food satiate your vice?

[He responds in kind, trying his had at the text feature again.]

So this world allows you to over come repression? Is this an indulgence you think you would take up if you were not so restricted before?

[He wonders. Indulging because you are compelled is one thing. Indulging because you are without limits is another.]

As far as hobbies go, those are both constructive and worthwile. Are you allowed more time with them because you are free of responsibilities here?

No. It's too deeply personal to me. And I was hurt. Have been hurt. Even without my anxiety and nervousness, that doesn't go away.

Sort of. I work for the Lunar Scientia here. It's a lot less work than my job at home though.

Hobbies unrelated to goals you want or need to accomplish count. Do you feel you have more time to indulge them here? Do you feel compelled to indulge them here?

[He wasn't going to pry but now he is sort of curious. Others don't have the limitations and vulnerabilities he does. So he takes Chroma more serious than others have to.]

As for Chroma, I see it as a necessity. Do you seek it in excess?

I guess I would, with crystal beach and the Lunatia Science Division being so close, except that now a lot of my time is taken up in training, which is very relevant to a personal goal of mine.

[Namely, never get murdered by a horrible old man again.]

And I don't think "seek" is the right word. I'm pretty touchy-feely by nature, so I just wind up generating way more than I need easily. Not because I'm trying to but just because I really like to touch and be touched.

So, do you believe this place forces you to act upon things you rather not?

It seems fate has smiled upon you. Do you enjoy your job here?

[Murdered by a horrible old man you say? Maybe talking to Lancer is not the best way to avoid that fate.]

I suppose then you are a perfect fit for this place. With so many strange entities drawn here you must have an abundance of methods in which to train.

As far as the moons are concerned, do they also align with what you desire?

It's not bad at all. I'm still pretty at a pretty low level so I don't know a lot about the science here just yet but I'm advancing alright.

Do you have a job or are you still getting used to being here?

Not... as such.

[In that he still hasn't settled on one. Not needing actual accommodations helps a little but it still leaves him in the lurch.]

I have been told of things that may be tolerable but until then I shall make due.

[Vague way of saying he's going to wait out until opportunity arises.]

I'd still be having sex, but not... so easily. And with everyone. And not men -- I stopped with them after the only person that ever loved me back passed away. He was the first and last.

So you bed men now? No one will ever replace what is lost but sometimes finding what is right for yourself is what matters more.

[Okay, Vlad did not plan to be talking relationship advice when he sent out a question he assumed was about vices. But here he is and now this is getting into topics his orgin is not quite equipped for.

So time to approach this as a king.]

That's fair. You definitely have time to make a choice in however you want to live while you're here anyhow. You get more Chroma from moonlacing than most jobs after all.

I suppose that is true though I am not used to seeking employment.

[He has a role to fulfill, usually. Here not so much.]

Do you sustain yourself simply through work and hobbies or do you seek out Moonlacing often as well?

[The Nasuverse has something of a plethora of murderous old men. It's kind of an epidemic.]

That's true! I've gotten more practical experience in the few months I've been here than most of the rest of my life, if nothing else. The plants and those Cerberus transformers were both really helpful for honing my skills.

Eh, some yes, some no. I'm an Iris, so the regeneration, pain resistance and all is really nice! Not a hundred percent sure about the bunny features, but I don't hate them.

He's alive here. A version of him from my past. So... I get to have my little slice of happiness for a little longer, somehow.

But yeah, I... have... partners. Here. Some are frequent. Some only once... so far. Some maybe, if they need me. I just -- I can't use my unique skills here, so I make sure the hunger and hurt and heat that comes with the moons doesn't inflict anyone too seriously.

[Don't murder shame!]

I suppose those are less insufferable things to have to deal with. I wish you luck in your endeavors and your adjustment then.

[Maybe not everyone is so pointedly terrible in their moonblessings. Maybe some compliment instead.]
