I want to know more about the worlds that everyone left behind.

Like what countries there are, what they look like, what's different from here. It's such a waste of opportunity not to learn about other worlds, you know? As long as I'm going to be stuck here, I'd like to stretch my imagination and learn something new.

I, for one, just came from Japan. Yokohama City, to be exact. I wouldn't be surprised if more of you are from Yokohama... Oh~ But imagine if we're all from alternate Yokohama Cities. That would be interesting as well.

I'm not sure I'd call it a club...

In my world, literature is being devoured by monsters called 'Taints'. They consume stories and erase people's memories of them, and the effect they had on their readers.

Normal humans can't delve inside books to fight them. So we were summoned to protect literature from being destroyed.

What?! That sounds awful! If I didn't have books growing up, I'd have been so much more miserable!

[Which, she now realizes, is probably why he's working to protect them.

You got rid of them all, right?

Right now the best we can do is to hold them back. We still don't know where they come from or why they appeared suddenly... but we can stop their spread, at least.

[It's a mobage, they can't just resolve the plot, that would be silly.]

[Being pulled straight from an ongoing conflict? Lucy knows something about that too. So she can't help but ask, just in case they've got more in common;]

Does it weigh on your mind a lot? Knowing you aren't there when people might need you... I find that overwhelming if I linger on it.

There are sixty or so authors in the library. I won't say I don't feel guilty about not being there, but they can manage without one or two writers for a while.

In one library? Doesn't that get crammed? [Maybe it's a good thing that he's here instead??]

It's a big library. I'd say the feuds some groups of authors had with each other while alive are a bigger problem.

"He's mean to everyone," isn't an excuse. You should take offense every once and a while. If he's like that to everyone, isn't that going to cause problems?

Dazai's the only person who's actually intimidated by him... I think more of us just feel bad for him, if anything.

Without question. Dazai was actually here for a few months before he returned home - I would've liked to introduce you. He's very passionate about fashion, among other things.

I'm sorry he left. I would have quite liked to meet him myself.

It's alright. He didn't like it here very much anyway. We were never close at home, and he missed his real friends.

We didn't talk much before coming here. We lived during the same time, but our literary circles never overlapped... I guess we're more like coworkers than anything else.

I dunno. I think it's weird to call friends 'real' or not. You seem like you'd be pretty sincere about a friendship.

That's true... then I guess we weren't friends at all, before Lunatia.

And that's fine. You don't have to call everyone your friend.

I would be pretty upset if you went out of your way for someone who didn't appreciate you, Atsushi-sensei.

Well, in Dazai's case, I was his senpai here, so I was obligated to do something...

Besides, it's Dazai. They'll self-destruct if no one looks after them.

Like how Atsushi are too kind to survive alone, all Dazai are too stupid, huh.

That's a funny thing to imagine though, isn't it? Atsushi being Dazai's senpai I wonder how that would play out in my world. [You're an author, Atsushi-senpai. Surely you can imagine it better than Anne.]

I think Osamu would give Atsushi a lot of headaches... but they'd make it work out. They're good for each other.
