So, I turned 17 today. I completely forgot that was going to happen. In my defense though, my birthday is usually in March and it's only now because it was September instead of May when I arrived in the last world that pulled people in that didn't live there.

... Anyway, for something those of you who haven't known me since before I showed up here might be interested in, does anyone want martial arts lessons? I was training a couple of people back in the last world I was in and it went pretty well there, so I figured I should probably start that up again.

For now compensation is negotiable, since I don't know how many people would even be interested in this in the first place and money here is... weird. Days of the week, time, and how often the lessons happen are going to depend on just how many are interested, but I'll let people know sooner rather than later.

"It's more like the demon was basically just a little kid who didn't know any better. At least, from how it was explained to me. At least, on a basic level. He could absorb other people, and that changed him. Not that I was seeing that part firsthand or anything."

Honestly, she really wished someone else from her world would show up. It'd make explaining stuff about Boo so much easier.

"Wait, so the demon just didn't know right and wrong... until he absorbed someone else who did?"

Definitely an improvement, but wow was that awful for whoever had been absorbed...

"That's... one of the iffy parts that I'm not too sure about," Videl admits, frowning in thought. "It's more that... he didn't even have the capability to do good until he absorbed that person, but that was back when he was first running around millions of years ago. He still didn't know what right and wrong was until he ran into my Dad and actually had it explained to him."

She thinks about it for a moment, before shaking her head. "If anyone else from my world shows up here, or if I ever actually get back, I'll have to ask about that."

"... Okay, I absolutely understand why you're confused." There's a certain logic to it, if he started out just without a good thought in his head, and then he absorbed someone with a more functional moral compass.

But on the other hand... "So would that mean when he separated into good and evil halves, the evil half was just... his original self? And now the good half is just the person who got absorbed being in charge of the demon's body?"

"Sorta kinda?" Videl says, thinking about it for a few more moments before speaking again. "I mean, I don't think so. Not entirely, anyway. The evil half of him was able to reabsorb the good half, but after that it was different. From what I heard they somehow ended up split again and then the evil part of him returned to his original self, but I don't think I'm going to be able to give you a clear answer unless one of the people who were strong enough to do anything against him shows up here."

Kairi tries to follow along with all that, but she finally just gives up.

"This demon just can't keep himself together, can he?"

Videl laughs a little. "Yeah, I guess so. I really need to get more details about what exactly happened if anyone from my world shows up here."

"At this point, I'm starting to think they'd just make things more complicated. This is one of the weirdest things I've ever heard, and my story involves a horrible old man using time travel and possession to take over the heart of all worlds."

Which just drives home how nuts Videl's world apparently is.

Videl laughs. "Oh, I don't doubt that," she admits. "Still, at least then I'd have the actual answers for how things went against him. And honestly, I should probably ask more about all the stuff that happened before that too, since a lot of it I know even less of."

"It sounds like there's a big story to learn about, even with everything you already know."

Kairi sighs and shakes her head. "I can relate, actually. Sora and Riku have shared a lot with me, but I know I don't know everything yet."

Videl blinks, not having expected that. "Wait, really? But you were fighting alongside them, right? How much more of what happened don't you know yet?"

Kairi's answering laugh is much more bitter than amused.

"Not until the very last fight. I was unconscious until Sora got my heart back to me the first time, then I was left on the islands until Axel came and kidnapped me. I finally got my Keyblade on my way of breaking out from there, but I spent the last part up until the final fight in training."

Oh. Oh damn. That wasn't something that Videl had realized from Duplicity. Sure, she knew about what happened in that last fight, but somehow she had the impression that Kairi was part of a least a bit more than that.

"Oh. I..." she shakes her head. "I... I guess that makes sense then. Being more focused on training than letting you know exactly what happened in the past."

"I've been out of the loop for a while, too, so there's a lot I have to catch up on. If my Keyblade had come sooner..."

She sighs, and shakes her head. "But it didn't. And it sounds like you're in about the same position I am, really."

Videl nods, frowning a little. "Yeah. At least you're strong enough in relation to what you guys go up against that taking you into a fight is actually a good idea. If I tried to fight any of the things that threatened my world in like the last decade or so I'd just die pretty much instantly."

"Well, it's a decent idea if we aren't going up against literally the most powerful enemies out there, anyway."

Her time in Lunatia has at least convinced her that she's useful against opponents that aren't absurdly above her in power. Not so long ago she wouldn't have been too sure of that.

"And you're downright invincible against most of the stuff here, it looks like."

"I wouldn't go that far, I've definitely felt hits during some of the things we've had to deal with," Videl admits. "Though I guess everything here still is pretty much nothing compared to what our worlds are used to dealing with..."

Which is good, because sitting on the sidelines hadn't really sat well with her during the whole Boo thing. She'd hate to have been in that situation here too.

"Yeah, I don't think we've actually met anything world-destroying. Which... hopefully we won't."

Though the whole "cataclysm" thing does make her feel like it's looming over them.

"Though, really, I guess what we really should be worried about is trying to bring this world back from the brink, given what things are like outside Lunatia."

Ah. Right. The whole 'outside world is a desolate wasteland thing'. Not entirely unfamiliar to her, what with how Duplicity was, but at the same time she can't help but think that the world being in such a state was pretty... well, odd.

"I'm surprised that the prismals haven't been able to do anything about that. I mean, they're able to go into space, so you'd think they'd be able to do something about what's going on outside of here."

"I think it's pretty much all Chroma-related. Everything here seems to practically breathe the stuff. Which means things aren't gonna pick up until we start getting to the point where we've Chroma-charged the planet. Which... might take a while."

It being a planet and all.

Oh. Damn. That was not a thought that Videl wanted to entertain for long. But now that it was in her head she had to admit that it made perfect sense, and she let out a sigh.

"Well, that figures. Guess I really should've expected that. It's not like a lot of them are actually living on the moon."

"Honestly, it's a relief that we actually have Lunatia. That means there's enough life in the planet to support this city, at least. Plus the city the foxes came from, and wherever the dragons live."

Three places of life. Maybe a few more. All across this world.

It's... an incredible thing to think about, which is part of the reason she usually doesn't.

That was also a pretty good point. Because Lunatia was easily one of the biggest cities around. "Maybe. And I guess it's always possible that there's more cities out that that we just haven't found out about yet. Or that the people here don't know about..."

Though if that would be a good thing if another one of those cities that this government didn't know about wasn't guaranteed, but they could really only worry about something like that if it happened.

"There probably are. But even if there are ten times as many places where life can live than we know about, that's still only thirty on an entire world. And we seem to be the only ones that can generate Chroma this well. Kind of puts how much effort the Prismals are putting into making sure we're comfortable into perspective, really."

Seriously, no level of luxury would be too much if they're literally the only hope they have to heal their world. Not that Kairi's likely to take advantage of that fact, but it's still something she's going to think about, if only because it's so staggering.

Videl frowns, thinking about what Kairi said for a few more moments before nodding. "Yeah. It really does. I'm just glad that this is what they decided to do about it, because they could've made it a lot worse for us. I'm honestly really surprised we haven't heard some of the natives saying that they should be 'more strict' with us or something like that."

She shudders a little as Duplicity comes right back to her mind. Not really something she wants to be thinking about on her birthday, but it's not like it can really be avoided now.
