I know the network is used for inquiries at this point, so I guess I might as well throw my hat in there for a little assistance of my own for a few things. And a bit of a general question in the end, I suppose.

1. I guess you could say that I'm looking for a job: I know it isn't really necessary here, given the currency, but I want to give myself something to do. In terms of my personal abilities, I'm pretty decent with technology (although the stuff here is a bit more advanced than what I'm used to) and writing. Back home, I wrote for the Student Cultural Society club and even did the photography for some of my personal articles. I've been doing some writing her for practice, but nothing too concrete.

2. I'm also looking for someone who could teach me a few things. I'm primarily looking for a combat teacher, primarily for self defense. Admittedly, I can't use magic or supernatural abilities or anything like that, so that's a bit of a minus on my end, so I need something else to protect myself. I learned a little bit of karate from one of my friends back home as well as pro-wrestling if you want to know what I'm primarily interested in. If any sort of payment is necessary for that service, please feel free to let me know as well.

3. Not really that much of an actual, proper inquiry from my end, but something I'm naturally curious about: what kinds of worlds is everyone from? I've heard that there's a good amount of people from Japan - and personally, I'm from Yokohama myself but I'm interested in hearing if there's anything about your worlds that makes it potentially unique or special. (Perhaps I could even figure out how many Japans there are?) Oh, and I guess hearing your favorite thing to do or places to go in your world would be great, too!

4. Also: what places here remind you of home? Is there anything about this world that you like in particular - whether it's better than your own world, etc.

Anyway, that should be it from me! Sorry about the massive tl;dr but I wanted to get that all out of the way.

In my experience, any form of combat training starts with a good foundation. Learning the basics is necessary to ensure that you do not start off with an improper understanding of how to fight, as well as making sure you do not hurt yourself. Any more than necessary, of course.

When it comes to what that means in practice, that mostly comes down to footwork before anything else. I believe that is where we should start, and continue on from there. Though to truly gauge your starting point, I would need to see you in person.

[ It's signed off...again. The mark of someone either way too old to be texting or utterly clueless about what they're doing. And a coat? In this weather? Clearly, he's insane. ]

[ she doesn't know that! although she can make a few guesses that his world probably doesn't have this sort of thing. ]

[ Eren feels awful about writing such a short message, but it seemed to him like the one he was talking to didn't care much either, which absolved him of any real worry. ]

[ ...That doesn't mean he's going to forsake all his outdated conventions, though.

Eren stands on the edge of a small park that overlooks part of the city. He's leaning on a railing, in between sets of binoculars that you have to pay for with Chroma. The view is gorgeous, and he seems entirely intent on watching it with all he can, seemingly lost in it. He probably won't notice anyone unless they really get in his business. ]

[ Eren...

She certainly wouldn't mind any short messages, especially since a lot of her back and forth utilizing the text. But that's when she actually sees him and realizes that she didn't actually say what she personally looked like, or even her actual name.

Hm.

A dilemma.

How she chooses to solve this is by walking up to him and getting up into his business by trying to tap him on the shoulder in hopes that would get his attention. An attempt is going to be made, anyway. ]

[ Once he turns to see who's trying to get his attention, it's apparent very quickly that he has no idea who or what this person is trying to get out of him. ]

What is it?

[ His voice, though not unkind, is measured and even, like he's on guard. He's aware he's supposed to be expecting someone. But the girl that's in front of him is far from the person he had pictured in his head. So much so that even the idea that she might be the one he was talking to earlier is completely absent from his mind. ]

[ Ah. . .

She really should have done the smart thing here. Well, it can't be helped now, she might as well just be out with it. After all, it isn't like it's a secret in the first place. Not to mention that her plans all along was to learn, right? ]

You're the one that answered my message on the network, right? About a combat teacher.

[ Initially, his only response is silence. Then, his blank expression turns into a look of doubt. ]

Are you sure you're up for this? It won't be easy.

[ It's the unfortunate truth. He wasn't a very gentle person in general, let alone as a hand-to-hand instructor. ]

Nobody said anything in life was easy to begin with. I didn't ask expecting that it would be an easy time, especially since I'm anything but athletic.

[ Her words are stern and serious, but honest and it shows in her eyes as well. ]

[trample]

[ There were certain things in life simply not meant to be. Struggle against it all you like, some people were not fit for fighting. Eren takes one look at the girl, listens to her detail her inexperience with anything even tangentially related, and comes to the conclusion that he was either in for the long haul or putting an end to her dreams here. ]

...

[ But he did respect her enthusiasm. And it wasn't like he had anything better to do with his time. Screw it. He had experience in turning little girls into killing machines, anyway. ]

All right. I have to say though, I expected someone...taller. [ A bad joke to ease the air between them before he got a little more serious. ] Then let's start with the basics.

[ He turns to her fully, hands in his pockets, but clearly at the ready to begin training. ]

Your name.

I'm not that short?!

[ Even if it is a joke, she can't help but respond in hind with a bit of a huff, before straightening herself out, arms at her sides. Besides, her black belt karate friend was a lot shorter than she was, so if she could learn how to fight, then there's no reason to say that she can't.

It'll just take some time. ]

And right. I'm Inaba. . . [ a hesitant pause, almost contemplative ] Inaba Himeko. 'Inaba' is fine, though.

[ So she had origins in the East. He figured as much once he got a look at her.

Eren felt like he was making a mistake, but pressed on in spite of that. ]

All right. Inaba, tell me this:

[ He looks down at her firmly, but not with hostility. ]
