[Vanitas is seated with his chin propped up in one hand when the video comes on. He looks significantly calmer (and less Sanguis-y) than the last time he made a post like this.]

Bonjour. I've done this once before, but I feel as though I wouldn't be doing my due diligence if I just relied on snooping and idle gossip.

[He straightens up, a hand going to his chest with an undeniably cocky grin.]

So! My name is Vanitas and I am a doctor to vampires, although I myself am just an average human. In an attempt to better understand the nature of the world we currently find ourselves in and those that all of you are from I have a request! I'd like to hear all of your "legends" about vampires. It's become clear that despite the wide variety of worlds represented here vampires are a reality in very few, so I'm curious about where your preconceived notions of them stem from.

Of course if you yourself happen to be a vampire or personally acquainted with any I'm even more interested in you. Don't hesitate to come forward and chat with me, I'll even be accommodating if you want to do so anonymously.

You're a human, but a doctor for vampires...? Is that possible? Wouldn't it be better if there were a vampire that was a doctor for vampires...?

[ nevermind that. don't think on it benio, not every world works the way it does at home ]

Beni hasn't really met any vampires personally, it seems like if they were around we would've seen them at least once right? Have you met any here? It seems like it would be interesting to actually get to know one.

[ so thoughtful, maybe the excitement of another non-human entity ]

Probably, but none of them are exactly stepping forward to do what I do. Not as though they could anyway.

It's likely you wouldn't know them as a vampire unless you know what to look for. And I know one here from my own world.

[He's not really interested in outing any of the other vampires he's talked to so far. None of them have gotten on his bad side so he has no reason to be petty and ruin possibly useful connections.]

You seem to be rather noble... To be able to take on such a task, and also to be very discreet about your vampire's identity. I guess no matter where you are it's important to keep that stuff secret.

It's hard to tell what kind of people can be trusted with that information. Not everyone is really nice when it comes to others who aren't human.

[ there was a blink and a smile ]

Ah, you're welcome... Beni has had the pleasure of meeting so many kind people since arriving, though you're the first person I've met with such an enchanting voice.

Noble? [He laughs.] I wouldn't go that far.

But you're right. Humans are quick to make themselves the victim even as they'll jump at any chance to slaughter anyone different. Including each other.

[He feels little love towards vampires and humans alike. Their stubbornness will wipe them both out eventually and he doesn't particularly care.]

Is that so? I can't say I've ever had my voice complimented before.

Oh my, it sounds like you've had to see a lot of things back in your home...

[ it's okay vanitas, beni doesn't have any strong feelings towards vampires, but humans in general are a tricky subject. but that much will be kept in check for now ]

No? Beni can't imagine why you wouldn't have... although, maybe I'm just a little more sensitive when it comes to sound.

It comes with the job. A lot of my patients aren't exactly excited to be treated by a human and most humans probably wouldn't appreciate what I do.

[Not that he particularly cares about either of those things. No one else's opinion matters.]

Is there a reason you're more sensitive?

It's a difficult business if that's the case, but Beni wonders what sorts of ailments vampires would have... I mean the whole point is they're supposed to be immune to so much, right? Unless it's very different in your home...

[ ah, this was a little trickier wasn't it? ]

Beni likes to study the effects of sound waves, they could prove to be very beneficial when used the right way.

They're not really immune, although they do heal faster from physical injuries and are generally a bit sturdier. But what I treat them for is curses.

[He hums.]

Sound waves can be used to stun or disrupt a person, and I've read that certain frequencies can even cause hallucinations and changes in mood. Do you use them for combat or just experimentation?

Ah, that actually sounds very interesting. Beni didn't even think to consider curses and how it could affect such a being. It seems like you're very well-versed Onii-san~

[ ah, this man was very focused on a troublesome aspect wasn't he? though there was just the smile and a hand through the hair in response to that ]

Since Beni works as a nurse for big brother, the kind of use that's most important to focus on is one that would help, wouldn't you agree as a doctor yourself?

"Onii-san". What does that mean?

[He doesn't think it's an insult but you also never know. Not that he's sure this guy would necessarily tell the truth either.]

... Hm. I guess that does make sense. So you're pretty well-versed yourself.

Ah, sorry, Beni is so used to this being common at home... Onii-san is big brother, it's what you call someone else out of respect. Though I suppose sensei would be more appropriate since you're a doctor, right?

[ but it was just a lot more fun going with big brother. for now there there's just a smile. benio will tell the truth about most things, it's just a matter over how personal it is and if it reveals anything about themself ]

Just a little~ Big brother is the doctor, he's very smart and does so many great things. Since Beni gets personal lectures and works with him there's quite a bit I've learned. Being in this place leaves Beni at a loss over what to do to earn a living, it doesn't seem like my ability as a nurse would be necessary here.

... Huh. I see.

[He doesn't really get being called a "big brother" by someone he doesn't know, but unless it starts to get annoying he supposes it's fine to allow for now. It isn't as though he hasn't been called worse things.]

I'm in a similar boat, really. While there are vampires here from what I've been able to test the things in this world don't react the same to my manner of treatment, so I can't really do much on that front. But I think there's some clinic that has been established here you could look into.

[ how patient of you vanitas, don't spoil the little bird too much ]

It's certainly something to consider, although sadly it would seem that Beni's expertise falls more in line with mononoke and tengu. So I really am in a difficult position like yourself~

Beni has also considered maybe looking into a cute cafe or something, although I'm very used to keeping late hours and am not sure how that would line up with working hours.

[Those words also don't really register with him, but he's assuming they mean some sorts of creatures other than humans.]

Around here I'm pretty sure there are plenty of places open at all hours, especially around the shadier parts. This city seems to be pretty bustling all the time and I've heard advertisements for cafes and "host clubs" or whatever it is they're called.

Oh my...

[ the reaction the mention of a host club got, it certainly did make the colour rise to benio's cheeks ]

It seems as thought you've never been to a host club before... entertaining strangers in such a way could be very dangerous. It's not uncommon for both hosts and hostesses at home to have such scary stories about customers that take things too far.

Please be careful not to put yourself in such a position, you're much too handsome to have to deal with something so unnecessary Onii-san~

No, I haven't. Those places don't really exist where I'm from [Well. Brothels do, but that's not the same.] so I don't know much and I haven't really had any interest in looking into them more. I mean I had suspicions based on the name I suppose.

[And given the way things work here he supposes that an establishment for any sort of "entertainment" would likely be geared towards moonlacing in one form or another. It just makes sense.

He snorts then, amused.]

Are you implying that me being handsome makes me unable to take care of myself?

Is that something that goes hand in hand with something like that?

[ a curious tilt of the head, thinking on this carefully ]

Ah, what I mean is that you just seem like the type of man that doesn't care much for troublesome situations. And you know how people get... if you're like this regularly, when you're in a situation you might even be more good looking and would just entice unwanted attention...

Though it's okay if that's something Onii-san is into as well~

Well I guess you're right on that impression, because I have enough things to deal with that I don't really have an interest in getting wrapped up in other peoples' problems. But it would also depend on the person, because it would be pretty stupid to ignore an opportunity to generate Chroma.

[While he might not be a big fan of getting involved with people he's also not going to put himself at a disadvantage and risk not being in top condition. He's seen enough of what can go wrong here to know that it pays to be ready.]

Ah, so that's the kind of thing Onii-san is into...

You must lead a very exciting life here, does fighting count for something to generate chroma? Since there can be a fair amount of contact involved and can be very intimate it seems like it would qualify...

I'm just not into dying, that's all.

As far as I've found fighting and expending energy actually depletes chroma, especially if you expend any sort of inhuman abilities. But I also guess it would depend on the kind of "fighting".

Well yeah, dying is never ideal. From what I've heard it's a rather painful process.

Is that so? Doesn't that seem like it levels out the playing field if someone doesn't have those sort of abilities? It seems you can be quite the fighter yourself, and are very well-versed about the flow of chroma~

I guess you could say that, but taking into consideration that moonblessings seem to bestow at least basic supernatural talents one could consider that alone to make things more "even". Of course even without any enhanced abilities it isn't impossible to win against someone who does have them, you just have to be smart about it.

[Says the guy who practically throws himself at vampires much stronger than him on a regular basis back home.]

Non, I wouldn't really call myself a fighter. I'm just a doctor.

It seems very basic, the magical ability doesn't seem something that's very impressive though. Probably just strong enough for a shock when it comes to an Iris's abilities, though the high pain tolerance and regeneration seem to be an okay trade off~

But Beni wouldn't know much about having the capability to work with these things, they're only useful in a tight situation at best.

Just a doctor... Even doctors could be fighters too, but there's nothing wrong with being just one or the other.

Well if you make a point of not getting too involved with all the little excursions the locals are fond of then you shouldn't have trouble avoiding tight situations.

Hmm~ I guess.

Oh no, Beni would never... a lot of them seem very dangerous and scary, it's best to stay behind and be careful~
