Bonjour. I have a question for you all, if you'll indulge me.

How many of you here are immortal? Whether it be by natural means or otherwise. How do you feel about your immortality?

You don't need to tell me how or why you are, I'm simply curious. I myself have lived for 500 years, so I'm looking for kindred spirits, one might say.

Of course if you're not immortal and you know someone who is, I'd be glad to hear that as well. This platform was made to share opinions, correct? I'd enjoy having everyone's different perspectives.

I wouldn't qualify myself as 'immortal' in the same light as you would yourself, but likewise, I was born in Ancient India, and in a way, continue to exist to this day.

In regards to how I feel...
I suppose due to its differences and the continuous purpose that is tied to my existence in this realm, I do not feel as though it is something that I must or should pay much thought towards.
My physical body is not something that should exist for long periods of time, but my soul and my name are, I suppose, omnipresent.
I'm afraid my answer is not as satisfactory as you would expect.

That's perfectly fine. A long life can, in many ways, feel like immortality compared to how short human lives are.

Are you perhaps summoned, into some kind of vessel?
We don't have magic as such in my world, so this is all new to me. Your answer is more than satisfactory!

Summoned, yes, though not into a vessel. I obtain a physical body that is built on magical energy which much resembles who I was once in life. This appearance of mine is supposed to mirror what I looked like at the peak of my life, when my name and fame were at their strongest.
This summoning only happens when the summoner, which my kind refers to as our 'Master', wishes to borrow my strength to fight in a war of sorts.
Therefore, as long as there is a human-being out there who wishes to borrow my strength, my existence will remain immortal.

Forgive me, I'm at a loss for words. That is truly amazing. To bring a historical figure to life at their peak... for a war? It's such a shame that you are not summoned to better aid the world. The knowledge of the past is so infinitely valuable... but it's very interesting to learn how things are in your world. Thank you.

Is it your distinction that qualifies you to be summoned for these wars?

This war comes with a prize, one which is able to grant wishes; if my Master is of good heart, their wish might aid the world, as you said.

Likewise, my former Master was part of an organization which fought to help restore humanity from extinction, as well as to save the future. My kind prefers not to fight meaningless battles.

As a renowned hero, those who are familiar with the legend behind my name seek out my strength to aid them.
I am one of the mightiest heroes that have existed on Earth, after all.
As long as there are people who believe in my strength and my ability to fight, I will be continuously summoned to partake in these wars.

Ah, I see. Then that makes a deal more sense. Humans are especially willing to do whatever it takes for a strong enough wish.

Of course. I'm afraid my reputation is that I am, in many ways, a mystery. I made a name for myself while hiding much of my past, so any specifics wouldn't match the tales you're likely to have heard of me.

Though I did get a good laugh of telling others that I was a 500 year old vampire, they all thought I was joking.

I am familiar with a couple of people in similar situations; whether because their legend is not well-known, or because their reputation has given birth to countless rumors that do not match reality.
If you would like to continue to hide your past and what kind of person you are, please do not feel the need to expose yourself to me. I will not pressure you into speaking about something you would rather not.

Well, needless to say "Comte" is not my real name, and I'm certainly not from Saint-Germain. Even still, my reputation precedes me in much of Europe. People enjoy the mystery. And as for myself, I can always claim old age has robbed me of such memories. Whether that is the truth or not matters little.

That part is true. The nobles in Paris believe me to simply be an eccentric, but the secret to my long life is my vampirism. But don't worry -- I am perfectly well-cared for here in Lunatia. I'm not the kind of vampire who stalks the night hunting for prey.

Not at all. Perhaps I am simply wary, there are many who assume ill will when I tell them all that I can do, and that I am immortal besides. It can be difficult to gauge others' reactions.
But it is as you guessed. I was born into this life, and it is all I have ever known. Perhaps that is the reason I am a bit more comfortable with immortality than some.

I do suppose immortality can be a delicate topic to some, albeit not sharing the sentiment.

Somewhat, yes. But also to gauge how common or uncommon immortality was across the many worlds we all represent here.

I'll admit I did have one ulterior motive -- that is, to prove a point to a good friend. I think it's been proven.
