Bonjour. I have a question for you all, if you'll indulge me.

How many of you here are immortal? Whether it be by natural means or otherwise. How do you feel about your immortality?

You don't need to tell me how or why you are, I'm simply curious. I myself have lived for 500 years, so I'm looking for kindred spirits, one might say.

Of course if you're not immortal and you know someone who is, I'd be glad to hear that as well. This platform was made to share opinions, correct? I'd enjoy having everyone's different perspectives.

All the best,
Comte de Saint-Germain

I wouldn't qualify myself as 'immortal' in the same light as you would yourself, but likewise, I was born in Ancient India, and in a way, continue to exist to this day.

[ Nobody needs to get into Fate lore specifics, really. ]

In regards to how I feel...
I suppose due to its differences and the continuous purpose that is tied to my existence in this realm, I do not feel as though it is something that I must or should pay much thought towards.
My physical body is not something that should exist for long periods of time, but my soul and my name are, I suppose, omnipresent.
I'm afraid my answer is not as satisfactory as you would expect.

[ Just you wait until you meet your Fate equivalent, Saint-German. ]

Summoned, yes, though not into a vessel. I obtain a physical body that is built on magical energy which much resembles who I was once in life. This appearance of mine is supposed to mirror what I looked like at the peak of my life, when my name and fame were at their strongest.
This summoning only happens when the summoner, which my kind refers to as our 'Master', wishes to borrow my strength to fight in a war of sorts.
Therefore, as long as there is a human-being out there who wishes to borrow my strength, my existence will remain immortal.

[ He did not... actually... expect that kind of reaction, but sure. ]

This war comes with a prize, one which is able to grant wishes; if my Master is of good heart, their wish might aid the world, as you said.

[ On the other hand, if they're someone evil, it would do nobody no real good... but at least Arjuna is a bit too rightful (despite his own issues) to allow such a thing to happen. ]

Likewise, my former Master was part of an organization which fought to help restore humanity from extinction, as well as to save the future. My kind prefers not to fight meaningless battles.

That is correct.
As a renowned hero, those who are familiar with the legend behind my name seek out my strength to aid them.
I am one of the mightiest heroes that have existed on Earth, after all.
As long as there are people who believe in my strength and my ability to fight, I will be continuously summoned to partake in these wars.

[ Sir Saint-Germain?? You out there performing necromancy???? ]

Indeed. But even my kind have our own wishes that we fight for the chance to be granted. It is why we agree on lending our strength, after all.

[ Don't ask what his wish is. :)... is what he'd think if he weren't a better person now. ]

I apologize for my rudeness; I should have introduced myself earlier.
I am called Arjuna, a renowned archer of India.
It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Saint-Germain.

[ Hans Christian Andersen HATES whoever wished to write a new book. ]

There is no need to apologize.
Likewise, I do not possess knowledge on who you are or what you were known for, despite having heard your name a couple of times.
As it would be a pleasure to tell you more about myself, I would like the same courtesy from yourself, if you would not mind.
I am rather interested to learn more about the conditions of your immortality as well.

[ Only dumbasses want to keep writing books after death. 😔 ]

Is that so?
I am familiar with a couple of people in similar situations; whether because their legend is not well-known, or because their reputation has given birth to countless rumors that do not match reality.
If you would like to continue to hide your past and what kind of person you are, please do not feel the need to expose yourself to me. I will not pressure you into speaking about something you would rather not.

[ Now wait a minute...... ]

Though I am rather surprised to hear that you are a vampire...

I see. So you entertain the masses with what they'd like to hear to keep the mystery afoot, rather than indulge them with the truth that might not be for their liking.
It is surprisingly considerate, although I cannot help but worry about certain rumors they might produce for the sake of keeping your name interesting to their tastes.

[ Humans are as pure as they can be cruel, after all. ]

I apologize if it seemed as though I've shown concern over your... vampiristic tendencies.

[ He's not worried because he knows he's powerful, but ok. ]

It does explain your longevity, I suppose.
Were you born a vampire, or did you become one throughout your life? I hope that is not too intrusive a question.

[ That'd certainly explain the whole mystery, he guesses. The more you know. He wonders if Yu Miaoyi would find comfort in knowing someone else who shares the same nature as her. ]

Thank you very much for your answers, I have inquired more than enough already.
I do suppose immortality can be a delicate topic to some, albeit not sharing the sentiment.
Were you simply curious on how others deal with it?
