Bonjour. I have a question for you all, if you'll indulge me.
How many of you here are immortal? Whether it be by natural means or otherwise. How do you feel about your immortality?
You don't need to tell me how or why you are, I'm simply curious. I myself have lived for 500 years, so I'm looking for kindred spirits, one might say.
Of course if you're not immortal and you know someone who is, I'd be glad to hear that as well. This platform was made to share opinions, correct? I'd enjoy having everyone's different perspectives.
All the best,
Comte de Saint-Germain
[ It's... It's not a letter but he's from the 19th century so. There you go. ]

Though, you wouldn't be able to tell they are important, here. They bleed and act the same as everyone else.

Interesting. I too am able to be momentarily injured though I heal far faster than most. I won't ask you to divulge information on their behalf, but I'll keep that in mind.
immortal* not important, thanks phone.

[ Nobody needs to get into Fate lore specifics, really. ]
In regards to how I feel...
I suppose due to its differences and the continuous purpose that is tied to my existence in this realm, I do not feel as though it is something that I must or should pay much thought towards.
My physical body is not something that should exist for long periods of time, but my soul and my name are, I suppose, omnipresent.
I'm afraid my answer is not as satisfactory as you would expect.
no subject
[ When he finds out historical figures come back to life to fight each other, he's gonna flip. ]
That's understandable. Do you mind if I ask what that purpose is?
Are you perhaps summoned, into some kind of vessel?
We don't have magic as such in my world, so this is all new to me. Your answer is more than satisfactory!

i guess its good i can fight harder and take more damage
what the actual fuck do you even do for 500 years?
no subject
I'm not much of a fighter myself.
[ That's a lie. ]
You'd be surprised. Human history is exciting to observe. The Renaissance is my personal favorite.

I never gave much thought about it. It's normal...
I suppose it does make any relations with humans or short-lived species difficult to keep for a long time, however.
[Most can't even get pass 100...]
no subject
Nonetheless, I understand your sentiment. Humans can seem very fleeting in comparison. Yet they still achieve much in their short lives.

Don't know that I feel one way or another about it, other than not wanting Earth to be destroyed any time soon. It's a surprisingly unpopular opinion, in celestial/infernal circles. I also don't plan on pushing my luck with discorporation here in any case.
no subject
I can see how that would cause a problem. Even should all the humans on earth die it wouldn't make my existence any easier.
You're an angel, then? Or a demon?

Comte de Saint-Germain? I've read about you in my studies...
[ She takes a moment to add another text, trying to wrap her mind around the fact that she's talking to yet another historical figure from her studies. It was very surreal in a good way ]
I guess I have to answer too, huh? As for me, I won't count myself as one. But I stopped aging, physically.

As for how I handle it, I pray that it is with grace and gratitude. I'm quite lucky that I get to meet such lovely people such as yourself. 500 years, you say?
[ Even when he's being friendly, he is shameless about it. Sorry, vampire man. ]
no subject
Since we are all so long-lived, I am enjoying learning all of our different perspectives. Indeed, I can most certainly relate to your intent for I, too, am grateful for each day I am given. and all the new faces that I meet. It keeps things from being droll, no?
[ Ah, that's a Francophone for you. ]
Just a bit over 500, yes. One stops keeping track after so long.

But if you do not age, you may be immortal. Or if you're able to recover from any wound, then you may be immortal as well.
Was your immortality inflicted upon you?

A lot of people seem to be very open with these things here, I'm still very unsure of it myself though. I wouldn't mind getting to know others, I'm currently a little over 250 years old but am still very nervous when it comes to being around humans.
The last time someone managed to see what I was it ended badly, luckily I don't die too easily. But I still have nightmares where I could feel it all over again.
no subject
Nonetheless, I understand your reservation when dealing with humans. They are generally unreasonable in large groups. 250 years is plenty of time to see them at their worst, and their best.
Of course, I don't make a habit of announcing what I am in my own world, but here... things are different. We're all outsiders, this is but a minor difference in comparison.

What makes you immortal if I may ask?

For myself, I cannot be killed and do not age. That covers both of the biggest factors, I imagine.

But there are those who cannot be killed for several hundred years until their condition becomes such that their lives come to an end.
Technical immortality may be the correct word for that situation.

In regards to how I feel about my own immortality, you could say that I resigned myself to it a long time ago. I hope that satisfies your curiosity?

Hello! Yes, it seems there are a few of us here. I've been told, somewhat jokingly, that I should start a club. Can you imagine?
In any case, thank you for your honest answer. I appreciate your response, and I understand how you feel. I, too, was once resigned to the knowledge that I would live forever. It can take a very long time to accept.
