[ big three moon energy, here we have a certain gal that seems to be sporting some ocelot ears via video posting. there may also be a bucket of chicken somewhere in the view. but that's not the focus--don't focus on that. leave it alone. ]

Yo!

[ jolyne holds up her hand in greeting with a big ol' smile in place ]

Alright, it's pretty clear that I've missed out on a lot of prime movies and music since it was 2012 for me back at home. So have at it, let me know your favourite stuff, let's talk about it and see if there's something similar here. And you don't have to limit it to like post-2012 either, we can go as far back as necessary if you're into something else before then too.

[ there's that idle waving of the hand ]

Like I know we don't have full access to everything here, but doesn't hurt to have a video list queued up to make requests right? Or finding the prismal equivalent--like I def found a copy of When Hairy Met Jelly while checking stuff out. I had a good laugh, but also... that's mildly terrifying. Romcoms are scary on their own, y'know?

So yeah, let's open some dialogue. Tell me all about your favourite movies, music or just like whatever the fuck you've found in this place.

From back home -- I'm a pretty big fan of the Miyazaki movies, to be honest, even if people would end up calling me an "otaku".

Yeah. People are just-- like that sometimes, you know?

It absolutely does suck, admittedly. And yeah, he is. Of course, there are other animated movies out there that are just as good, like Satoshi Kon, Mamoru Hosoda and even Makoto Shinkai. But Totoro is good, too.

Admittedly, my favorite Miyazaki film is Princess Mononoke, though.

( Isabela's video feed seem to originate from the corner of some grimy pub. To compensate, she's holding her wrist close to her mouth to be able to speak, more loudly than is strictly necessary. She's still figuring this technology shit out. )

We didn't have them where I'm from. Movies. I like them!

( She leans back a bit in response to the suggestion. While she's not sure how all this stuff works, she sure does appreciate it! Making a thoughtful noise, she answers: )

I prefer the smutty ones myself.

[Ren is sprawled back against something soft and cushy and purple, with nothing else really visible around him except his red hair sprawled over all things previously good and pure.]

Mmm, I've seen a few people talking about weird books they found here before...you know, that funny bodice-ripper kind of stuff. But for movies, what kind do you like? I don't want to start recommending horror movies or something if you're not interested in that.

Maybe~ [It doesn't quite connect for Ren that she's making the remark because of his hair, but he could totally buy there being mermaids here, so he plays along with the question.]

Oh, that's good, then. I tend to like the stuff that's kind of dramatic and gruesome...there's one I think I saw recently about a research team out on one of the moons getting hunted down by a shapeshifter. The name was kind of on-the-nose, though, like "The Entity" or something...

[In other words, it was a blatant Prismal rip-off of The Thing, but at least Prismal versions of things tend to be even more ridiculous than the Earth versions.]

bit of both but probably the noir side of things
you'd think i'd be into musicals but honestly musicals in film tend to be too cheery for me

I've tried watchin' some locally made horror flicks here and there. Turns out they got a different concept of what a zombie should look like... which in this case is lookin' more like they've been infected by rock candy than the undead plague.

Zombies, or anything where there's monsters and all hell's breakin' loose while the remainin' humans gotta figure out how to survive. Bonus points if at least one of the characters stops pissin' their pants long enough to bust some zombie-monster face.

[Basically, he's in it for the fantasy of going bamf mode versus Evil.]

Best one I've seen so far was Battalion of Blackness. The main dude had a freakin' jackhammer for an arm.

There's a film called The Seventh Sense where Buce Williams is a child psychologist who is supposed to help a kid who is seeing ghost but surprise - he's the ghost himself!

2009, so you're ahead of me. :(

I like Bruce Springsteen. I think the last movie I saw in theaters was Maximum Risk or maybe Hard Target. Was always more a VHS kinda gal.

[...ah, this is kind of a fun topic...]

You know, movies haven't quite been invented yet where I'm from, but I get the feeling we're reasonably close. I've heard some rumors about it, anyway... but where I'm from, the radio's still king. It actually leaves me wondering if radio gets completely replaced by movies and whatnot or if it still has its own identity. I've found things that are basically radio shows when poking around the network, but I can't help but wonder if that's a throwback of sorts.
bloodisthicker: it never fails. (i saw it in my coffee.)

Oh, I've actually found some of those here, actually. I wasn't sure if that was unique to this world or if it was more ubiquitous, but I suppose everything old ends up being new again if the conditions are right for it.

Personally, I've found myself enjoying those a little more than movies and television, but I'm not really sure if it's just because it's more familiar to me or if it's just considerably easier to multitask listening to a radio show as opposed to watching a movie.
