Please forgive my curiosity, but I have heard about 'the season' and 'Halloween' a few times over the network, and since neither the time seems relevant to where I come from, nor the name familiar - would anyone care to explain what these two are about?

It's a festival in my homeland that allows families to give their respect to the dead. There are lots of singing, praying and merrymaking often in the form of elaborate costumes.

The first days of Juju are dedicated to mourning the dead, while the rest is all about celebration and food. All of Port Nostrand is decorated in orange and black ribbons, the signature colors of Juju.

Huh. There do seem to be similarities, especially one takes into account the pumpkins someone else mentioned. Does Juju also last a month?

Yeah, it does last a month! It starts on the first all the way to the thirty-first.

Perhaps not all that odd. In most places things are similar enough - people live, people feel attached to each other, people die, and those surviving need to grieve, and to move on from grieving.

Perhaps coming up with similar ways to do it is not that unthinkable.

You really have a knack for explaining the unexplained, ya know?

There aren't that many things that are actually unexplainable. IF you truly want an explanation, which a lot of people often don't.

But also that's why I keep trying to find more information - knowing helps with the explanations.

Where you from? Do your people celebrate this kind of stuff?

I do like knowing things. It makes it harder for bad things to blindside me.

And we have... a couple of festivals that are focused on the ancestors who have died, but none of them is nearly as extensive as to last a whole month.
