Please forgive my curiosity, but I have heard about 'the season' and 'Halloween' a few times over the network, and since neither the time seems relevant to where I come from, nor the name familiar - would anyone care to explain what these two are about?
Thank you for your time.

but halloween is a holiday that some countries on earth celebrate where people dress up in scary costumes and go door to door asking for sweets (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧
or in my country, mostly just the dress up part
different places take different parts of it ┐( ̄ヮ ̄)┌

And yes, the season did sound that way, and yet there were at least to instances over the last days where people offered services for the coming season. So I was curious what celebrations exactly are coming.
no subject
but now i guess people just kind of celebrate it for the sake of it \| ̄ヘ ̄|/
i think some of them were offering help for costumes, since some people have a hard time deciding on stuff ٩(。•ω•。)و
but i guess sometimes adults who are having halloween parties use as it as an excuse to meet people for
you know
extreme moonlacing (。ˇ艸ˇ)
which some of the people on here seemed to be angling for...

Extreme moonlacing is a nice turn of phrase.
[ He means funny. Because it's funny. ]

everyone knows what i'm talking about and i don't even need to be crude about it (✿˘艸˘✿)
[By "crude" he means "straightforward", mostly, because clearly talking circles around things is
more entertainingbetter.]text, un: thedevilfish
Either that or lasses sporting cat ears and not a lick of dignity.
It's pretty rad! Reminds me of Juju Festival back at home, but a bit more festive.

Haloween is the last day of the month, and isn't just a harvest festival. It's also a day when the barrier between the living world and the world of spirits is thinner, so people believed that ghosts and monsters can appear more easily. They carved radishes into scary faces to ward off the evil ones, though these days we use pumpkins instead.
It's also common to dress up as something scary or fantastical, and costume parties around this time of year are popular.

text,
What is the Juju festival, then, if I may ask?
no subject
Nobody thought that carving 'scary' faces might repel other humans but attract the... evil ones?
Re: text,
The first days of Juju are dedicated to mourning the dead, while the rest is all about celebration and food. All of Port Nostrand is decorated in orange and black ribbons, the signature colors of Juju.

it's nicer to be polite about things ✧٩(ˊωˋ*)و✧
[And insinuate everything so you have plausible deniability.]

so are you any of those types or do you not like being crude either (。・ω・。)?
no subject
no subject
Yeah, it does last a month! It starts on the first all the way to the thirty-first.

Perhaps coming up with similar ways to do it is not that unthinkable.

that's thoughtful of you (○´艸`)

[ But he won't claim more than moments.
And, no, he's neither confirming nor denying that. It's complicated. ]
no subject
but that's okay
i'm sure your boyfriend appreciates it (´꒳`∗)
[Ren's just going to take the obvious teasing opportunity there.]

You really have a knack for explaining the unexplained, ya know?
no subject
But also that's why I keep trying to find more information - knowing helps with the explanations.

[Bastien can't help but chuckle to himself. This guy here reminds him of his former first mate.]
Where you from? Do your people celebrate this kind of stuff?

And we have... a couple of festivals that are focused on the ancestors who have died, but none of them is nearly as extensive as to last a whole month.

aaw
I see the point about treats, but why the trick part?
no subject
Although a lot of people *do* play pranks on Halloween. Spirits aren't the only ones who can cause trouble on that day.
no subject
anyway i guess you're not going to tell me who he is
so i'll just have to suffer wondering ☆ミ(+ωゞ)☆彡

no subject
and usually people who say stuff like what you just said think nothing about them is of any concern to anyone else ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so what's the difference if you tell me that or something else
no subject
no subject
i can understand not wanting to broadcast it on a public thread
but it does kind of take a lot for someone to want to use something like that against someone (-ω-ゞ
[Says the guy who never says anything sincere about himself ever if he can get away with it.]

I know people who are extraordinary at extracting information, intent of gossip present or not. That is all.
no subject
Has anyone played a prank on you, for Halloween?
no subject
unless someone specifically comes from your world it seems weird that they'd be targeting you with this many people around \⍩⃝/
and in that case they'd probably be able to figure out who your boyfriend is anyway...
[Since they'd presumably also be from the same world.]

There are other pranks, like egging or TP-ing someone's house, but those are more mean than anything.
