This is The Knight.

I wish to talk about families.

What is your family like? Do you have siblings? I have many siblings. More siblings than there are moonblessed. One of them is here with me. They are also a knight. They were one long before I was, and they are very good at it.

I have a child. They were not born by mating, as humans do, but by a dance with myself and my friend Grimm. It was part of an important ritual.

My Father is a King. My Mother is a Tree. Also a Queen.

That is all of my family. Please tell me about yours.

She wanted me to lose in order to engineer a good comeback narrative. I can't deny that it would be one - it may still be, since I lost the match anyway, but it'll be a better one with me acting on my own merits and skill level than faking it.

As for everyone else, my mother's end goal was building on my celebrity to the point where I could make money based on my looks alone, which was her dream. She likely didn't care what happened to my professional reputation, as long as people still thought I was a pretty face.

The goal was foolish, and she didn't succeed. That's the important thing.

The end still may not justify the means, but that's for you and your siblings to decide, from the sound of things. And preserving a place is a far more understandable goal.

The entity at home attempted to redecorate the city to match its preferred aesthetic. It was... disturbing.

More disturbing is the fact that most people didn't even notice.

That's far from all it did, but I was mostly an outsider to the situation, so I don't know all the details.

They did. Or they will, from my perspective - I arrived here after the threat made itself visible on a wider scale but before they addressed it fully.
